Mount Carmel Holiness Church Number 1 was established in 1956 by the late Mother Mary Munn and her companion, the late Deacon Walter Munn. The couple resided in Camden , NJ , where the headquarter church was located at 644 Errie Street . They would often travel to White Oak from New Jersey doing great works for the Lord. The late Elder R. T. Ralph, Overseer of the headquarter Church in Camden, at the request of Mother Munn, ordained sister Lossie Baxley as the assistant pastor. In 1973, Mother Munn went on to be with the Lord. Sister Lossie became the pastor.
In 1978, God gave Pastor Baxley a vision to build a new church. The church continued to grow spiritually and financially. In 1989, Sister Wanda Council accepted the calling He placed in her life to preach the gospel. Pastor Baxley ordained Sister Wanda in Camden, NJ at the headquarter
church under the leadership of Bishop William E. Payne, who assumed the position of Overseer upon the death of Elder Ralph. In 1992, the old church was demolished so that the new church could be built on the exact same solid foundation. It took many years to complete the establishment of the new church. The "church" was still in the Mt. Carmel members. They just relocated to the dining facility. Many miracles were performed and many souls were delivered in the dining hall, where services were rendered. In 1994, Minister Council was ordained the Assistant Pastor. In 1995, the vision of the new church was complete. The church was renamed Mt. Carmel Holy Church of Worship. Many souls were saved and delivered thru Pastor Baxley. February 2005, Pastor Baxley went on to be with the Lord. Upon her death, Minister Council became the Pastor. She was installed by Bishop Eugene Davis. Today the church is still growing spiritually. Many souls are still being saved and God is truly the Head of this Church.
