BORN January 24, 1966, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Wiso Aponte discovered the guitar at a very early age. His uncles were charmed by the sixties rock music and Wiso spent long hours listening to them playing, with fascination. At the age of 10, he received his first acoustic guitar as a Christmas gift from his parents, and when he was 13 years old his uncle gave him his first electric guitar. His passion for the guitar grew listening to guitarists Phil Keaggy, George Benson and Steve Lukather, being this last one his greatest musical influence. Still far from his eventual career as a professional studio musician, Wiso played in various bands in high school. In 1983, he met the Puerto Rican jazz bassist John Bentez, who gave him the first opportunity in a recording studio. Years later, he met the Rivera brothers (Benjamn, Mike and Ismael) and they decided to create a band, starting then a musical collaboration that lasts to this today. The experience acquired through the years, have made of Wiso Aponte a much requested musician, music arranger and producer. He has worked in numerous CCM records, inside and out of his natal Puerto Rico, besides multiple commercial ads (jingles). He had recorded and/or shared the stage with artists such as: (Grammy winning artist) Marcos Witt, Aline Barros, Alex Campos, La Tribu de Benjamn y Benjamn Rivera, Julissa, Michael Rodrguez, Luis Santiago, Ren Gonzlez, Danilo Montero, Roberto Orellana, Danny Driggs, Ron Kenoly, John Schlitt (Petras vocalist), First Call, Chris Rodrguez, BCV, among others, as Guitarist, Arranger, Music Producer and/or Music Director. His guitar can be listened in recordings from different labels and TV shows as Espritu Latino on Gospel Channel. In the year 2000, after almost two decades recording for other artists, Wiso finally releases a record of his own; titled Expresin. This project has elements of contemporary jazz and Latin jazz with a touch of flamenco music. In 2001, Wiso moved with his family to Pembroke Pines, Florida, where he built his own recording studio and released his second project Paisaje Acstico. This album includes original songs and melodies, where he also played almost all the instruments. Each song represent a different season and are expressed with sounds from nature and acoustic instruments he comments. After 4 years from his last project, Wiso released its third album of instrumental music IDIOMA UNIVERSAL (Universal Language). This project includes 10 of the most successful themes of the Latin Christian music, in which manages to meet the interpreters creating duets between guitar and vocals. 2008 finds Wiso relocating in Orlando, Florida where he continues to work in his production studio besides touring.
