I grew up in church, and most of my life I was in church but not "into" it. I just didn't really know how to live this life and be in this world. You see I would go to church and hear what was coming across the pulpit, but I wasn't getting understanding. By the time I had reached adult-hood I saw ministers and preachers as the someone appointed to stand behind the pulpit to condemn and convict those of us sitting in the sanctuary. Then God brought a friend into my life and one day she asked my daughter and I to go to church with her. Of course we knew right away that was where we belonged, so at altar call we went forward and became members in fellowship. You see I was raised in a non-denominational church, although it was called "Church of God", and NJCFC was non-denominational also. So there was no "joining", because our Pastor always said you join health clubs, night clubs, book clubs, but you don't join church. I didn't stick to going to church, as I was out in and of the world. But July 2003 I had decided it was way past time to get my life in order and give it all over to God. Certainly no bed of roses but plenty of test and trials to go through to strengthen my character and relationship with Christ. I now go to the "Assemblies" in my hometown-it's where God lead me. and I'm still on a personal journey with my beloved. Probably my favorite scripture is Psalm 139. But there are others that come in very close behind it.
