This is the transcript of a prayer that President Roosevelt led the nation in and I think it's probably just as relevant today if not more so....



"Almighty God: Our sons, pride of our nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity. They fight not for the lust of conquest. They fight to end conquest. They fight to liberate. They fight to let justice arise, and tolerance and goodwill among all thy people. They yearn but for the end of battle, for their return to the haven of home. Some will never return. Embrace these, Father, and receive them, Thy heroic servants, into Thy kingdom. And for us at home - fathers, mothers, children, wives, sisters, and brothers of brave men overseas, help us, Almighty God, to rededicate ourselves in renewed faith in Thee in this hour of great sacrifice. And, O Lord, give us faith. Give us faith in Thee; faith in our sons; faith in eachother; faith in our united crusade... Thy will be done, Almighty God. Amen."

It's sad to think that if a President spoke these words to our nation today he would be faced with a huge backlash from every liberal democratic organization there is. The ACLU would have a field day....

God of Wonder

I just watched a video on teenagers cutting themselves and I think it is SO good just to get this issue out in the open so more people know about it and learn how much these kids are truly hurting. I've been talking to kids who are depressed and cutting themselves and suicidal for years now and it's a bigger problem than most people can imagine. It's just awful. My heart really breaks for these kids. And while I think that the video had some good points and the comments had good points as well, I can't say I agree with most of them. I've come to believe that the whole problem is more of an issue about Love. Or the lack of it. See, When your heart is filled with Christs Love the only response that a person can have is to want to GIVE with everything they are. To Love others through giving. Giving of their time, their possessions... of everything, including their own life. When a person experiences the true Love of Christ, they no longer think of themselves and their own pain, but only of others. Because Love is never selfish or self seeking. I've been through 8 years of what amounted to self inflicted torture in the Army Infantry, I've seen the living hell of combat, I've lost everything I've owned on three different occasion. And when I say everything, I mean I didn't even have so much as a toothbrush. I'm no stranger to pain and suffering and sorrow. But through all of it.. all I could think about is how much others were suffering. In combat the soldiers would starve right along with the population because all they could think about was that kid going to bed hungry. I would much rather suffer hunger than some innocent child. And that's the kind of love these kids need to learn how to express. I want so much to help them see how many people who are suffering around them that they have the opportunity and the ability to really help!! But they don't because they are so tied up in their own pain and suffering that they never look outward long enough to see it. I think that when it comes right down to it.... cutting is just as selfish as suicide. Neither of them are here to Love and help others anymore because all they thought about was themselves. And I'm not trying to sound mean or heartless here. I'm just tying to state the truth of the matter as I see it. The only way to help this epidemic is to stop beating around the bush and bring the root to the surface. The lack of Love is the root. In most cases the lack of them receiving Love got them into the pain to begin with and now that they're there, the lack of their own Love towards others keeps them in bondage. How can a person think of their own pain and suffering when their heart and all that they are cares more about the suffering of others through intense unquenchable Love? They can't, it's impossible. The opposite of Love isn't hate... it's selfishness. So when someone is cutting themselves... they are displaying the exact opposite of Love. Oh how I want these precious young ones to see that truth. How I hope and pray that they make a choice to just Love. LOVE ~Michael~
