APMC 2008-2009 Fiji Outreach

TIn November of 2006, before leaving Galoa Island, I made a promise to my new found friends to return the following year with a Mission’s Team. When I look back at that moment, I had no idea that through my promise, God was birthing an amazing plan to bring his revival fire and hope to this remote island of +200 people.

The enemy used Galoa’s impoverished social and economic status to prevent them from drawing closer to God. Much like our own culture, people were “individuals” striving to make something of themselves on a daily basis not at all interested in the spiritual concerns of their neighbors or of themselves. As a result, daily interactions with friends appeared to be friendly on the outside but secretly each person harbored a heart of jealousy, envy, and sometimes hate towards each other. It was an attitude shared by both adults & the youths. Others chose to escape reality altogether through daily consumption of Kava which was highly addictive like alcohol. As result families were destroyed and often children were left without fathers or mothers or both.

The villager’s soon forgot about God’s transforming grace. For them, going to church on Sunday’s had lost its meaning. People attended because it was expected of them, nothing more.

By September of 2008, God had finally revealed 12 individuals; 5 from Hawaii (APMC) and 7 from YWAM Fiji, to not only fulfill a promise, but also to put into motion God’s revival plans to deliver these villages from the enemies “strongholds.” With instruction from the Holy Spirit, each member of the team “faithfully” put into motion God’s will for each villager. Through encouraging sermons, spirit filled worships, life transforming testimonies, festive “meke” dances, children’s shows, and daily interactions; breakthroughs were occurring.
