Seeking God No Matter What - Part 1
Sermon from Sunday, October 4, 2009. First in a series of three. In this first sermon in a series on the Book of Job we talk about what it means to truly seek God in the midst of whatever life throws at us. We see that this book is not about "Why bad things happen to good people"; rather, it is about the nature of our faith and how we relate to God no matter what. Job explodes the traditional "divine retribution" theology that teaches how God rewards the faithful and punishes the wicked. Job seeks a relationship with God who is present in the midst of chaos and suffering; Job seeks to know the God who hangs on our personal cross with us and whispers, "I love you, no matter what."
