Northeast Thai (Isaan) Worship

Northeast Thai (Isaan) Worship

Through taking our life enrichment course, many rice farmers in the Northeast part of Thailand (Isaan) have come to faith. They meet weekly for worship in homes in their villages. The life enrichment groups also join together monthly for a celebration meeting. This video shows parts of a celebration meeting. They worship Christ in cultural appropriate non western ways--pray with hands held in the cultural position that shows respect to God, they sit on the floor, use Thai Isaan dance in worship and use Isaan instruments and music. They have redeemed the Isaan welcoming and sending friendship "string tying" ceremony to welcome new believers, visitors and to send off members. They also do communion using their staple "sticky rice" and a red sweet drink.
