Why A Mercedarian?
"A Mercedarian friar knows that the greatest love one can give is the gift of his own life, completely in exchange for the life and freedom of Christians in danger of losing their faith."
The Order of Mercy was founded in 13th century Spain by St. Peter Nolasco to rescue Christians from their Muslim captors by offering their lives in exchange for them. The friars take a special "fourth vow" to make this kind of offering.
We urge you to consider becoming a Mercedarian friar. For more information, contact Fr. Joseph Eddy, O. de M., at 215-879-0594, or go to www.orderofmercy.org.
