Syrian mortar shells land inside Israeli territory. According to Ynet News, several mortar shells landed near the Israel-Syria border, in the northern Golan Heights. According to Israeli Defense Forces, the incident took place near the Syrian village of Jub-ta Al-Hash-ab and the projectiles landed in an open area adjacent to the border fence. The IDF stressed that the fire was not intentionally directed at Israel and that it is believed to be the result of the escalating clashes between rebel forces and Syrian President Bashar Assad's army.

Volcano eruptions in Mexico increase. According to Prensa Latina, at least 26 eruptions accompanied by steam and gas, as well as a volcano tectonic quake were registered as a consequence of Mexican volcano activity during the last few days. The National Center of Disaster Prevention said eruptions were of medium intensity with no ash expulsion. Local residents have been put on alert in case eruptions intensify.

In UN speech, Ahmadinejad tells world leaders that Islamic messiah is coming soon. According to World Net Daily, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the world would "soon" see new "global management" by the Twelfth Imam, also known as the "Mahdi." During his address to the UN General Assembly, he referenced Jesus Christ as coming with the Islamic leader, but called the Mahdi "the Ultimate Savior."
