I was watching your video shocking youth message and it just stops and i want to see the rest of it or more by the same person.I wish that i could find a pastor like this man.
HOW REFRESHING to hear ur comment 'brobrewski' - JESUS ALONE FOR SALVATION. Stick with Jesus for salvation - you can't mix it with works, but the relationship to works is that fruit will grow, so "abide in the vine". Discipline urself, or God will do it. I grew up in church, backslid into homo!@@#uality, and the Lord still drew me back! One day, I woke up from a nap and the Lord convicted me that I was playing games and needed to surrender my situation to Him since I wasn't strong enough or willing enough to change it. Now I'm part of a ministry helping those who want to be healed & to live FOR GOD and not for themselves. If we confess our sins & our faults to God & to one another, we can be healed & restored. Its been 6 years, and I recommend Sy Roger videos for practical guidance and mercy ministry. Also, Exodus Int'l & Focus on the Family are a great help to balance out grace to the sinner and conviction against unrighteousness - they have a lot of love for ppl trying to follow God. ~Tom
Sadly, our preacher neglects to make a clear gospel declaration and explanation (Jn.1:12, 3:16; 5:24; 6:47; 11:25-26, etc.). His solution for the pathetic condition of the church today is no solution. Assurance of salvation is based on Jesus' promise. We don't need more commitment preaching related to salvation, we need clear declarations of the gospel (Jn.5:24, etc.) followed by challenges to discipleship. Now, get on with discipleship and the motivations for it (fear of #@#ation is not one of them). The call to salvation is not the same as the call to discipleship. This "well intentioned" message reveals a theology of works that can never lead to assurance of salvation. It masks the simple, yet profound truth that faith alone in Christ alone saves eternally those who take Jesus at His word. Read between the lines, people. The speaker's message mixes pieces of truth in with the error of guaranteed perseverance of the "true believer." Like other Calvinistic appeals, the preacher pleads with the people to prove to themselves that they really are the elect by examining their "lifestyle." His faith + faithfulness message is passed off as Biblical, as true saving faith. Wrong! This equals faith in self however you may state it. But Matthew 7 completes the Sermon on the Mount, a message which contrasted the righteousness of the Pharisees (inferior works salvation) with the Kingdom standards of the true Messiah, Jesus (things beyond our working ability). His listeners needed to make a choice - go with the popular wide majority view, or take the narrow gate route by choosing Him. This "will" to be done (21) is to "believe" in Jesus as Messiah (Jn.6:39-40). Ironically, the people who will be rejected are the ones who have been "doing" all of the good looking religious works (22). They, like the "false prophets" in sheeps clothing will look real good, but their trust will be in self, not in Christ alone. Jesus is not lowering the boom here on professors who live like the devil, but on the slick and spiffy looking, deficient righteousness of the works system of His day. Works reliance is the wide road, wide gate way. Entering through Jesus alone is the narrow way. Our speaker has managed to inject law and works salvation right back into the equation by confusing faith with faithfulness. This, neither Jesus or the Apostle Paul ever did.
I'm noticing some comments who are leaving with a fundamental mis-understanding of the message. What Paul is trying to do is to help each one of us examine ourselves to see if we're in the faith, so that we are not self-deceived and believe that it was a prayer that saves us. If we say we believe something our life will demonstrate that in our actions. If our actions say otherwise then perhaps we did not believe in the first place. ----
