Lord! Remind me,
That every temptation is a battle,
It’s not time for me to rattle.
It invites me for a time of prayer,
Casting upon you all my care.
I take part, every week, in thy table,
Yet my life rocks and is unstable.
Woeful and disgusting is my fable,
Lord! Rescue me, you alone are able.
Your body for me you broke,
Least understand I such a stroke.
On the cross you shed thy precious blood,
I drink it only to mix it in mud.
Father! Forgive me. This unrepentant son,
Ever learning, never yielding ungrateful one,
Your mercy alone can set me free,
Of all my guilt and hist’ry.
Neither man, beast nor the fish of the blue.
Father, but I have sinned against you,
I am unworthy to be called your son,
Accept me as the least among none.
How can I bear that loving embrace?
How can I show this sinful face?
Father forgive me this unworthy son,
Restore me the joy you had given.
