In The Image of God

Genesis 1:26 -27, 26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

When man was created, we were created in the image of God. Let us think about what that means. The word image means, a reproduction or imitation of the form of a person or thing; especially: an imitation in solid form. With that being said we were a reproduction or imitation of the form of God. God is Spirit so that means that the first man was made in the image of God was spiritual and an imitation of God in the solid form. Because man had not sinned at that point, there is a good chance that man existed in a glorified body. A body that was yet flesh and bone, but Spirit even as Jesus was when he was resurrected.

Luke 24:36 - 37, 36 And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. 37 But they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit. 38 And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts? 39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. 40 And when he had thus spoken, he showed them his hands and his feet. 41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat? 42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of a honeycomb. 43 And he took it, and did eat before them.

In this passage of scripture we see that the disciples were in the room after the crucifixion of Jesus and suddenly He appeared in their presence and spoke to them. This tells us that they physically saw Jesus, but yet he did not enter in through the door. They thought they had seen a spirit, but then Jesus told them to look at His hands and feet. Then you further prove He was real, the ate some food, spirits do not eat. So you say where does it say the door was shut, let us look at the account in the book of John.

John 20:19 - 20, 19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. 20 And when he had so said, he showed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.

So based on these two scriptures we see that the door was shut and Jesus did not open the door, but appeared in the room, this tells us that there was something different about him than the other people in the room, He had received His glorified body. Jesus who knew no sin was glorified by the Father and received His glorified body. On the cross Jesus knew what sin did for the first time, it separated Him from God. Jesus identified with sinful man in His baptism and once again in His death on the cross. I said all of that to say this, Adam the first man who knew no sin was more than likely created with a glorified body.
