Gerald began preaching at the age of 17 and pastored his first church at age 20. His spiritual heritage began in 1905 at the Azusa Street Outpouring in Los Angeles. His grandparents, on his mother's side, were baptized in the Holy Ghost there. Both Gerald's parents, R.L. and Clara, were spirit-filled, ordained ministers. There have been 22 ordained preachers in his family. Gerald was surrounded by several men of great influence:
His uncle, F. D. Davis; Raymond T. Richie; A. A. Allen; Demos Shakarian; Jack Coe; William Branham; Morris Cerullo; T. L. Osborn; John Osteen and other great generals for God. Several stayed in Gerald's home during his adolescence.
Gerald married Thelma in 1954 and has two sons, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. His son, Jerry is an evangelist and son Tommy is a Christian businessman.
After 20 years of pastoring with a daily radio and television ministry, Gerald began his traveling ministry, which has taken him around the world. It is often said that every traveling minister should have experience in pastoral ministry. Gerald Davis is such a man. His ministry, anointing, and compassion reflect it.
The Lord has allowed Gerald to minister in a great variety of settings, from huge open air crusades to ministering to individuals one at a time - and almost everything else in between. Gerald has ministered for years in numerous nations including Russia, Canada, Mexico, Nigeria, Kenya, India, Sri Lanka, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Haiti, and the Cayman Islands.
Gerald is committed to taking the Gospel to this generation, domestic & foreign. Helping, teaching, & training the local Pastors to make responsible disciples for Jesus. He preaches in camp meetings, seminars, pastor's conferences, and conventions - as well as local churches. Gerald has four favorite themes:
How to walk in strong faith.
How to live the debt-free life.
How to have and maintain material blessings.
Living in the glory of the Holy Ghost.
Gerald has authored several books; some are printed in four languages. He has earned his Doctor of Divinity degree through Gulf Coast Seminary in Panama City, Florida. Those close to him know him, affectionately, as "Doc".
Some of his peers have dubbed him, "The Preacher that makes the Bible come alive." An internationally renowned pastor has called him "a Pastor At-Large," because of his obvious concern for the local church.
Gerald's mandate from God is, "Tell people how to get from now until dying time walking in success."
A Prayer for the Door That Was Closed - Your Daily Prayer - April 18
When we’re faced with a closed door, it might be beneficial for us to consider both Adam and Eve’s story, and maybe even cats, too, because God sometimes reveals truth to us through them.
