As a student who lived in both the United States and South Korea, I have heard the Gospel many times before 1998, when I finally received the Holy Spirit by the grace of God. It was in the fall of 1998 that the accident occurred. I was involved in a deadly accident where I had to go to the Emergency Room of a nearby hospital for an eight hour surgery. Many of the surgeons there told my mom that I would not be able to make it. In her desperation, she prayed to God with her Christian friends and told Him that if God would save my life, her son’s life, that she would follow Jesus the rest of her days and dedicate her son to God. And that is what happened. A specialist flew in at the last minute and found the blood vein that was deep within my body and though I did not see God or hear His voice before losing consciousness during the surgery, I do remember Him gently convicting my heart and telling me that I was going to make it, all by His help and strength for His glory of His love! I woke up a few days later and found out that my entire family had formally and really accepted Jesus Christ this time, and that many pastors from a nearby church GMI, Fullerton, came to pray for me. I was so thankful to be alive but at the time, I did not know what was going on and so tired from the surgery. Nonetheless, I accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord along with the pastors there who prayed for me and a month later, I remember God calling me to ministry as soon as I gained full consciousness and felt healthier. It was both a time of humbling and convicting.
In the meanwhile, I read the Bible whenever I had a chance and developed a habit of prayer out of thankfulness. It is my goal to read the Bible once every three, which equates to 13 chapters per day. I was very thankful that God saved my life and delivered me from death unto life through his own death on the cross. It was the most wonderful story I have ever heard, what Jesus did, and more importantly, it was true. I was baptized on December of the year 2000 by water immersion and I promised God that I would continually serve Him and His people as long as I was alive, for it was easier now to count myself dead to the world and alive in Christ. Only His grace was what prompted me to act in such ways after this accident. Many things that seemed attractive to me before appeared futile and useless, and the things of God seemed more attractive and worthy, mainly His virtues of mercy and love. Jesus Christ I have met personally, and I just pray that I can be God’s tool in leading others to Him both for the first time and closer for those who already know Him, as I myself am encouraged by them to do the same. This testimony I have shared with many crowds by the grace of God and with both Christians and non-Christians and I just pray that God would be glorified as much as possible in anyone who reads it with his or her heart..
A Prayer When a Situation Seems Impossible - Your Daily Prayer - April 24
My wife has recently painted these words on a wall in our house as a reminder to us both: “Mightier than the waves of the sea, is His love for us!” (Inspired by Psalm 93:4). Please remember this. Mightier than the tempest you are facing is His love for you!
