He's Not Here, For He Is Risen

If we went to Calvary
What would we see?
A carpenter from Galilee,
Nailed to a tree.

They said He was Jesus,
The King of the Jews.
Or was He just a carpenter?
Which one will you choose?

He died for our transgressions
It has often been said.
Then put in a grave,
Prepared for the dead.

They wrapped Him in linen clothes,
Rolled a stone over the door.
His life, it had ended,
To be heard from no more.

His close friends and some followers,
Went to a room to pray.
They encouraged each other,
On this sorrowful day.

It seems they had forgotten
The promises He made.
That death could not hold Him,
And neither could the grave.

The first day of the week,
Very early, they say,
To the grave went two Marys
It was the third day.

When they got to the Tomb
Much to their dismay,
They realized that someone
Had rolled the stone away.

They found that the tomb
Was empty that day.
Back to John and Peter
They ran, and did say,

"They have removed His body
And taken Him away!
Come help us find Him,
Quickly we pray."

"Both men in a flurry,
Ran quickly to the tomb.
Only to find,
A big empty room.

The linen cloths were stacked,
All neatly in a row.
An angel stood by,
His face all aglow.

The angel reminded them
Of what Jesus had said;
Do not be alarmed when
I have risen from the dead!

No one has taken
Your Lord from this prison.
You must always remember,
He's not here, He is risen!
