Dear young sir, I find the Bible stories from beginning to end fascinating, and find it incredible to see how every tiny detail melds together to teach us something...and also that there are no casual details...each story, with all its components serves a purpose. In the most difficult times of our lives when we are tempted to think that God is far away, or has even left/or forgotten us, is when He is nearer than ever and planning our rescue, our refinement, or even a punishement that will bring us closer to Him. Some of the most beautiful works of the Lord are wrought out of what we would consider to be tragedy, bad luck, or disaster. Just wanted to say hi!!! and let you know I hadn't forgotten you, or your note on my page...May God bless you in His wisdom in such a way that you be drawn even closer to Him than you could imagine...In Jesus name..

Was Mary not the mother of Jesus? Was Jesus not God in the flesh? Who better to know the Son than the Father and mother. The Mother points to the knowledge of God the Son as our redeamer. He and the Holy Spirit teach us the word and will of God the Father and Creator of us all who are called by the name of Christion. And as christions we are all called to point the way to Jesus. When we die we do not cease to be. Jesus says that if we did not praise God here, that the very rocks would. He also tells us that we will praise God in heaven also. He is the God of the living; not the God of the dead.

Good morning, nice to start the day saying hello in peace...What I love about the Bible, Old testament to New, is that It is written telling and using God's story of love for this fickle human race through real human beings with all their imperfections without having to hide who they really were...they are presented, from patriarch and kings to the least important without having to hide their sin nature because by the sacrifice of His only begotten Son He planned to do His work of salvation, and through his grace change hearts and touch lives forever. It gives you hope and confiedence, that when you fall or even fail God, you can start again , and that the Lord loves you with an unconditional love. I love the Psalms because they are like medicine for the human heart and fill your soul with praise, listening to the wonderful words about the creation, the power of God, and His majesty. And I love the testimonies of those who God called to serve Hi, how he led and sustained them, their failures and victoies, and then I really enjoy the narratives in the books of history.

Avoiceforothers, it is a sad thing to see you so far away from the one, true Church...if only you actually took the time to look into what the Church's stance on social justice is...just because there is one part of the world that the Catholic Church is suffering in, does not constitute the ENTIRE Catholic Church...its not remotely logical...I will pray for your conversion and I will be sure to place you in the arms of Our Lady that she may lead you Home.

I posted this in the original Spanish so you would at least have your source to look up...if you study Latin, like I did for 4 years, you should be able to understand some of this, or use a translator...What the priest says, not archbishop, is a common complaint around Latin America where Evangelical, Pentacostal, Adventist, groups etcetera have had such huge successes in growth amongst those uncommitted to their Catholic faith.

This has several of the reasons mentioned why the Catholic church is so antagonistic towards those who are evangelical Christians. It is written by an archbishop in Chihuahua, one of the northern most states in Mexico.

My extra comment is that it is recognized that a great percentage of Mexican catholics are nominal... and only report to their local churches for the sacraments they consider necessary to save their souls and buried on hallowed ground. These would be the "bad" Catholics the archbishop refers to, when actually if they don't heed and obey they would be automatically communicated, right???

Oh my beloved. If in ANY moment you felt insulted, I am sorry. I didn't say in ANY moment that YOU worship Mary. I said that it was a mistake that dogma for me, because it's a rock that makes PLENTY people to fall in Mexico. I think that we don't have to put our faith in an institution, but in CHRIST. Now, about the inmaculation of Mary, it's on scriptures that she wasn't, because, as I told you, if it were true, then even King David's mom would be witouth sin, but we know that it was not true, because David declared that he was born on sin.
Don't worry you are not the only one who will die for Jesus, even will give my life for anyone, so that person can know the truth of Jesus Christ. Well, if you are angry, it's because you want, because in any time I tried to insult you or something like that.
I think that if something it's oc#@#$ion for sin for some people, they should remove it, or at least think it twice, because, here in Mexico MOST of the catholic people, commit that sin, but we are no one to judge them.
Well, related to aztec people... Yeah, they stopped killing people and instead that they worship someone else... But well, as you want it my beloved. Remember, ONLY LORD knows our hearts and knows our intentions...
Love you in Jesus Christ Love.

That is true! But think about it! You know as well as I that God loves us so much that he will forgive and forget no matter the sin. We say nothing is impossible with God, this is true, but I like to say that it is impossible for God to stop loving us, he just can't do it! it's hard for a sinner to change his ways. Unfortuantly it is very addictive, it's hard to change. Of cours with God's help it is possible, but we still have to put up a good fight. I tell you something personal on my account. I loved God when I was very very young, couldn't get him off my mind. When I bought my first Bible was still very young, not even a teenager. The sales lady tried to sell me a picture Bible since I was just a child. But I didn't want one, I wanted the whole thing, just a really big, complicated Bible. I wanted to know everything that happened, a childrens version is too watered down. The NT was a very good read for me, the OT, however, took a toll on me. All I knew about the OT was the story of Adam and Eve, Noah, Moses, and Elijah, nothing else. I learned a lot thats for sure! But, I became very disturbed. I read things I thought couldn't be true. God, in the OT, was very angry. He called himself a jealous God (Ex 20: 4-5, and somehwere, Im not sure where but its there, God ordered pros#@$%#utes to be stoned as well as a man who was collecting wood on the sabbath. I also found it very foolish that a man had to marry his brothers widow. But what really drove me insane was the fact that God said he would punish a man for his sin by punishing his family until the 4th generation. I felt like God himself betrayed me, I really couldn't see him as merciful, and couldn't even see Christ as that God. It was scary for me to even think that. Why would he punish a mans family for his sins? That seems unfair. As a result I rejected God for a time, wanted nothing to do with him. But at the same time I couldn't be happy without him, in fact, I was so depressed that I had actually considered suicide. Thats how bad it was for me. One day I decided that enough was enough, I was going to make things right! So I prayed to God, not the saints, not Mary, but God. But you see, I was still angry with him. Everytime I would try to pray I would just have bad thoughts. You can't really go to someone when YOUR the one who's having a problem with them. It so happened that I read about some Saints, some went through the same problems I did. But they turned it around. So I looked up to them as ro models, I wanted to see HOW they changed and hopefully follow their steps in doing it. Now I'm sure you'll disagree with me on this point, and feel free to do so, but I felt, in a way, that it was Mary who helped me. I needed motherly love on this point. In many of her apparitions she constantly said to repent for ones sins and be faithful to the Gospel. So I prayed to her, because I wasn't angry with her, and asked for her intercession. Slowly I wasn't as angry as before. Now, I love God so much! I'm still not certain of his OT ways, but he had a reason, I know he did! He works in mysterous ways, there's no need to question them. Thats why I have such a zeal for Mary and the Saints, because they showed me how to come to Christ, who is the ultimate mediator and the ONLY savior. Sometimes we need to look up to others who have experienced what we went through to see that Christ is always with us, helping us to change. I hope this sheds some light as to why we are so devoted to these Saints. Feel free to respond!

sheepwoman, it was through their reconization fo God's love for them through the sheeding of his blood for us the reason they strove to do good works. You yourself have constantly been referring to scriptures. So the Saints refered to scriptures and it is there we are told to do good works. St. Philomena (I can't speel her name correctly) was a 14 yr. old girl who lived in Italy around the middle ages. From a very younf age she vowed her virginity to Christ. Her parents, however, gave her to be married to some knight. She refused to give up her virginity, so she was killed. A 14 yr. old girl not afraid to give up her life just so she could keep a promise to Christ. The Bible tells us how to be Christian, but not HOW to go about doing it. Christ has said many times that we are to be chaste. Well what if one lived in a habit of lust, HOW can they get rid of it? One cannot turn to God if they still have enmity with him. Prayer, although powerful, is not the only thing us Christians must do to reform our ways.

And Im a Catholic Christian, a Bible AND Tradition believer in an army that will never fall!

I love Jesus because he died for me too! Because of him we have been saved!

...not every statue has to forshaow anything. But they symbolize many things. My video Catholics and Idolatry explains all of it. You'd be surprised. When we look at a statue of a Saint, we are reminded of their life story. Christ is a perfect image. We are all called to be images of Christ. But how can we imperfect beings represent something so flawless? Christ told us what we must do to be a Christian, but he didn't exactly give us guide lines on how to go about doing it in certain circumstances. The Saints teach us how to be images of Christ. They were sinners and they struggled with at times from leaving a life of sin to a perfect state of holiness, but they did it! There are hope that we too can also do it. There's a saint for every problem. We see how they handled it and hope that we too can do what they did. We are reminded of what we all our to become: saints. But a statue does not have to forshadow anything! Angelic statues in Gods temple forshadowed nothing besides the fact God is praised by angels. St. Joseph in his image has a Liily: Lillies symoblize purity and chastity. Us Catholics love symbols! And they are certainly not agaisnt God!

Catholic Worship added: 10 days ago
I don't see how angelic statues are a forshadowing of Christ, but I will agree that some things in the temple did forshadow him. But that still doesn't change the fact that God had ordered statues be built in the first place.

Than don't call yourself a Christian then. Christians don't hate anyone! Us Catholics will be judged for our individual sins as well as you will, and to Jesus age makes no difference!

No, you need to get your facts straight, hun. I'm not going to lie we killed in the past, but a lot of protestants over exagerate many of the facts. First off, there were church courts and courts run by the monarchy (king). The Inquistion, which many people like to talk about, only took place in three countries: France, Spain, and Italy. there's court records. According to those records, many people prefered to be tried by the church court rather than the kings court, go's to show you that the Church didn't torture people the way you think, if so many criminals would rather deal with them! Second, the Crusades were started to defend the Chrsitians in the Holy Land from the Moors. Third, your people also did things: the English and Irish massacre of Catholics, Salem Witch Trials, American Slavery, Nativism, KKK, and my favorite which ahs been on the news latly, the FLDS!

Who does Islam really worsh... added: 10 days ago
Muslims reconize that Allah is the God that created Adam and Eve and the same who made a covenant to Abraham. They decent from the prophet Abraham and his son Ishmael. Therefor, our God and Allah are one in the same. Regardless of what muslims believe, it is a very beautiful religion!

What is there to know besides the fact that Im Catholic? I love my faith! I will die for the Church if need be. Why? Because my faith doesn't have part of the truth (sola scriptura) but it is full of truth (scripture and tradition). I will die for my faith, literally shed my blood for it! I will die for Christ, Mary, I will even jump in front of a bullet to save the Popes life if I had to! Its worth giving up my life and my dreams. All Catholics become part of the faith when their baptised, although I like to think I was Catholic before I even existed! I don't choose to remain Catholic until the day I die...I choose to remain Catholic even in death and beyond! Even my blood is classified as Catholic among my medical doctors. Why do I have such zeal for the Catholic faith? Maybe some of you might think Im crazy! But perhaps your crazy for not seeing the beauty for what church really is, or you'd be saying the same thing I am, if not better, and as for my fellow Catholics: Pax Domini...
