Dear followers of GodTube. I've listened to this beautiful singer and I've read every one of your posts. I'm a born-again Believer from Australia and perhaps we view things a little differently here. For starters, we all seem to appreciate GOOD singing whether by a Christian or not. In this case, the singer IS a Christian and so it seems that many people expect her to sing 'Christian' songs. But why CAN'T she sing a beautiful secular song - a love song that she sings from her heart? God put that passion within her, and her amazing voice is her means of communication and reaching out to others. If u weren't a Christian and listened to this, you couldn't help but applaud it and BTW, I'm sure Jesus loves it! I'm a nurse. I do things at work that aren't necessarily Christian per se; its just my job. Like the singer, I pray that I will do and be the very best that I can be and when I have the chance to actually share about Jesus, salvation and healing I will do so. So don't be hypocritical and sanctimoniously pull her apart, but rejoice in her gift and leave the judging to the judges and to Jesus.

Christians are often accused of "judging" whenever they speak out against a sinful activity. However, that is not the meaning of the Scripture verses that state, "Do not judge." There is a righteous kind of judgment we are supposed to exercise—with careful discernment (John 7:24). When Jesus told us not to judge (Matthew 7:1), He was telling us not to judge hypocritically. Matthew 7:2-5 declares, "For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye." What Jesus was condemning here was hypocritical, self-righteous judgments of others. " We are to "judge" sin, but always with the goal of presenting the solution for sin and its consequences—the Lord Jesus Christ (John 14:6). She is a young girl and she has a gift from God. Let her do what God has given her to do. Did God turn his back on anyone NO and lets not forget who God let give birth to Jesus. She was not what anyone would have guessed. This young girl will be able to reach so many young people far more then you can with your neg. comments. Are we not told to reach out to EVERONE and are we not all of his children. She is not doing anything sinful so let her be her voice is that of an Angel. You like it enough to listen did you not. I have to ask all who think this was so bad what would you have her wear she was not showing anything but her legs. Wear does it say in the Bible what she did was a sin. There is far worse things out there. I think she is a gift from God and I think he was smiling down on her proud to say that he is her heavenly Father.

Don't Judge her because she sins different that you do.

Plain and simple...the singing of the words is the condoning of the words to the young teenagers and these words are words of the devil, the angel of darkness.

Let me guess, all you lady-folk that have commented on this young lady's attire, couldn't fit into her dress and probably wear long dresses every day...just sayin...don't be jealous...

Bill Gaudet wrong! If you watched and listened better you would know she is a Christian! Listen to the song Angela wrote and sang on American idol...you set me free! It saddens my heart how judgmental "Christians" can be. Very very sad! Jesus Christ is the judge, not you and not those bitters that are picking on Angela! Why don't we lift the hands of this beautiful young lady, who I know, for a fact, IS a Christan, rather than picking apart and tearing down someone who is most certainly shining her light and her love for Christ to a nation! Huh?

Marsha Eaton ...please do not judge! Lest you be judged! That...girl, is very much a spirit filled wonderful talented gifted and most of all an anointed young lady! And a Christian! Yes! She is most certainly choosing songs that are sang to The Lord! I pray your eyes will be open and you see the truth! Then again, God is the judge! Not You! We live in this world, we are not of it! Please....pray God takes away your mean spirited heart!

She does have a powerful voice but yeah, she forgets that Christianity is inside and and out so if she is a Christian she needs to dress like one. Pretty sad how so many girls fail to see the effect of not dressing modestly and continue to do so.

  • 2013-03-21T00:06:01

I believe it says it was a Christian singing, not that it was a Christian song.

  • 2013-03-20T23:19:07

These criticisms of the song and look are warranted, but you must realize that she has made her faith known during the show and she is singing songs that at least have a double meaning. I too expect that, win or lose, she will be on the top of the Contemporary Christian chart some day giving glory to her Lord and Savior Jesus the Christ -- and drawing many to Him by her having been on American Idol. Just look at the past American Idol contestants that serve the Lord!

What I'm concerned about is how she's dressed. Not that I want to be judgmental, but u don't go onto a stage professing to be christian but dressing like everyone else.

I can't believe how Pharisaical some people are on here!!! Are we in such a bubble that we can't appreciate a sister in the Lord making an impact on the culture?!? When Angie sang her first original song, I knew she was a Christian. She followed up with "Never Gone" a song by last year's contestant, Colton Dixon, from his SPARROW CHRISTIAN project!!! And yes, this is a "secular" song, but we know who she's really singing about!!! Get a grip, people!!! Pray for people instead of condemning...or skip this arena for something that fits your taste! (Matthew 7:1-3). #logeyes
