Tim Hawkins on Worship Music

Those that are bashing Tim Hawkins for changing the lyrics to a song should remember that we were told "sing a NEW song unto the LORD!" I'm sure that the original version of this song was WAY out there when it was written. I have to say my family was one of those that came to know the LORD through a church that teaches it a little differently. NOT that the church compromises God's truth but, that it does it through original music , some (gasp!) rap, rock and then more traditional worship and our pastor teaches using pictures, videos and even movie clips to get the point across!!!! THat doesn't mean it's watered down..on the contrary!! Our pastor is a target of hate in Tucson because he refuses to bow to the pressures of the community.... My husband and I are now Christians because of all the wonderful teachings, seminars, small groups and marriage classes that are taught. 1 Corinthians 9:22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.

Galatians 1:10 Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.

It's NOT about making jokes and making light.....The bible says "to sing a NEW song unto the LORD!" I'm sure the original was WAY out there when it was written compared to older songs. 1 Corinthians 9:22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. @Justice Bishoff and Robert Price---My husband and I (along with our 3 children ) were those people that disliked the "old" music as well as the OLD way of teaching and worship so much so that it prevented us from going to church and seeking the Lord. We found a church that sings original songs some rap, rock and traditional worship type.....In addition our pastor uses pictures, videos, movie clips that help bring the point across. IN NO WAY does our pastor EVER compromise God's word!!!!! He stands on God's truth week in and week out!!!( So much so that he and his family are targets of hate in Tucson.....) We walk out of church every week with an "a ha" moment.... This churches teachings, seminars, small groups and marriage classes saved our marriage and us!! We gave our lives to the Lord 9 years ago and our children (2 who are now adults and 1 in high school) when they were teens. Our whole family is a major volunteering force in our church and community.....We would have NEVER been doing that had church been what you are expecting it to be...staying in the 19th century.....

Very sad..He really doesn't understand how he defiles His awesome and sovereign God with his antics and so called humor!

Tim is an entertainer and we see how so many self righteous people here have judged him as if they themselves were God. God has a sense of humour, Jesus danced, so get over it and have a chuckle all in good fun but at the same time remembering that if we bring one lost soul to the Kingdom of Heaven the angels will rejoice and God is pleased! Get over yourselves! Some people here need to wake up and read their Bible. The Bible is truth and let us not judge others but give thanks to the Lord always.

I'm not sure why my comments keep disappearing, but I commented earlier that when Jesus talks about the speck and plank in people's eyes in Matthew 7:3-5 - many experts believe it to be him interjecting humor. The Bible also teaches that God is love and laughter is like a medicine. I think Jesus did laugh and tell jokes - he spoke in parables which was a way a communicating with others in a simple format to bring ease to the audience. He did not mock God, he is God. I also don't think Tim Hawkin's is mocking God. He is interjecting humor and using a song to do so.
