To the girls. Marriage is great, the proposal was warm and wonderful and more men should do something creative like this if they can. To rate as the MOST AMAZING however, playing video games?? swimming?? looking wasted and scruffy?? The annoying scooterman??

Wow I stirred a hornets nest here. Sorry you were left alone on this Mark, but I consider you caught the drift of my comment, ie a dislike of the content of the video and basically a false tag - The Most Amazing Marriage Proposal. You defended my statement well.

By the way, I discovered the song is "Glorious" by Jesus Culture.

EmaPeal Emerald-Mixmastr: Ah yes, I'm very familiar with the adage that 'human rights cover a multitude of sins'. Nevertheless, perhaps I did not express my thoughts clearly enough in my previous commentary. In it I acknowledged both the liberal etiquette's of the social arena and the relevancy of human rights and freedoms. I also acknowledged, however, that human rights are not be spun into the freedom to being abusive and boorish. 'Abusive and Boorish' was the topic of my earlier commentary. However, it's really important to note that Human Rights should not be synonymous with 'Do what thou wilt'. We all know the borders between right and wrong; no matter what 'spin' or 'social grace' is placed upon something. I'm talking 'right and wrong' here not 'politically correct'.

Sandra J Miljkovic at the end of the day it is his right to state his opinion be in positive or negative. That is what public forums are for. Not because everyone else is fawning over it he should too. I think we all just need to respect peoples' views whether we agree or disagree with them.

"THOU shalt NOT take the NAME of the Lord thy GOD in vain, for the LORD will NOT hold him/her guiltless who takes His name in vain." did you ever learn of that before?

I agree, would love to know what song that was. I think it's Jesus Culture, but I'm not sure.

Sandra J Miljkovic - I don't know classic from modern when it comes to perception. I find it both fascinating and disappointing that you and Pam seem to want to make my original comments into WAAAYYY more than they were ever intended to be. Classic deflection? Personal judgment? You're so far off base as to not even be in the ballpark! I simply remarked that his video was unspectacular (Sorry, I have seen truly excellent marriage proposal videos and this one doesn't qualify) and a bit self-serving. Not a personal judgment - just a personal OPINION. And, for the record, I can't even fathom what you're talking about regarding 'human rights.' I do think that there is a defensive mechanism in both of you that I may have inadvertently tripped - you know, defending the guy's efforts and all. If so, you may want to examine that further. If your responses to an honest opinion foster that much negativity, well . . . there's more there than meets the eye. Perhaps you should ask the men in your life what they think of the video . . . to get a complete perspective, you know?

  • 2011-11-30T08:05:40

Whao. Classic deflection. 'Skewed Perception'? I really don't think so. Putting a human rights spin on some obviously negative commentary doesn't make it any less negative; which was Pam's point from the get go. As you'e rightly said, the video is a portrayal of a real-time a slice of life. You cannot infer anything from it as you know neither the characters, the prologue nor the epilogue of this 'story'. As such, any personal judgement on the creator of the video is really moot, uninformed and pointless (yes, I would call 'self-serving' a personal judgement). We have bestowed on ourselves the right to be overtly negative within the social arena but, in this case especially, you've really got to ask yourself 'Why'? Congratulations Adam and Jeanna! May God keep you and guide you on this adventure you're embarking on together.
