Numbers chapter 17 has an interesting illustration. God - provision of testimony so that people will not die. God's people - immediate obedience according to the divine instructions. Carnal people - distrusting God and wailing "we all going to die" after attempting self-helping religion and abusing God's servants all they want only in the previous chapter! Our present world is in a temporary dreadful condition and never a world that should last for eternity, but it is indeed a "perfect" world as a training center regarding: 1) Indicating God's character so He is EXPERIENCED by the creatures with the divine grace - faith in Christ, humility, honesty, the love of truth, patience and loyalty. 2) REVEALING what we really are or what we are made of by various genuine life experiences 3) Exciting exploration of the unknown, both the visible and the invisible. 4) Understanding God's sovereignty by witnessing salvation and restoration of any kind by His supernatural intervention alone in contrast to the system and ways of the natural humans. Non-believers ultimately get their positive shares in this life. (Matthew 5:43-48) Information on hell's pain is to reduce the scope of mankind's otherwise uncontrollable evils all over the world. The worst thing in hell is absence of knowing Christ and His love. For Christians, not-knowing Christ would be the worst torment, nothing else in all the worlds possible. There is something deeply cosmic about Heaven and hell.

It's amazing to me how some people muddy up the truth of God's word! The answer to the Question is, John 3:18, "Those who believe in him won’t be condemned. But those who don’t believe are already condemned because they don’t believe in God’s only Son" Yes there are some things God has not made known, but this is not one of them. The man Peter said it so well, We are the 'elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father' (1Peter 1:2). What I have discovered with most people they are UNKNOWINGLY under the false impression that God is limited like them. They fail to understand the fact that God knew the end from the beginning and thus can send out his free gift of grace knowing who will reject it and who will accept it, giving all the chance to receive it, nevertheless knowing all wont. It is not God's will that anyone should be lost, NEVERTHELESS He being God and thus all-knowing knew from the beginning who would hear and believe and who would hear and not believe. Therefore God could inspire Peter to pin these words (the 'elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father') as it relate to those of us who trust completely in the atoning death and blood of Christ and His resurrection as the bases for their eternal salvation.

More thoughts: People should rather ask, "God created me and sent the Savior for me. Why don't I accept Him?" The Gospel of Jesus Christ is an incredible dazzling light of hope and love in the midst of the darkness of humanity's sins. It's a sheer wonder why the Gospel could be offensive to any. Do any of us knock out the medics who came to rescue us after calling 911? Never. But we do that spiritually. Free will is destined to divide godliness and rebellion in a world where virtues such as authenticity, loyalty, and bravery count. God's world is something we cannot rule according to our self-centered inclination. We by instinct dislike our limit as creatures with free will. The message of hell didn't stop many of us humans from doing the most heinous evil against the most defenseless entities and the sickest kind of immorality in our world. I wonder what more severe punishment than hell could have stopped us? Warning and knowledge of hell is God's mercy for our type of creatures.

Hell is a NATURAL, permanent destination for self-willed creatures who refuse to honor God as God.

We take ourselves too highly. We think we deserve Heaven or something. Seeing the history and current goings around the world, hell is actually the very natural place to end up for our type of mankind. We live for our own ambitions and greed everyday, entertaining ourselves with foolish things and wasting a lot of money for things which we never need, while billions of humans are starving and suffering on the same planet. Living for oneself and doing nothing is the worst sin. Even living like Mother Teresa won't make us deserve Heaven; people like her say they are never good enough. In strict sense, only babies would deserve Heaven among humans. We are practically a real bad race. Our planet is a planet of criminals. It's a sheer miracle any of us is allowed to go to Heaven. No wonder it costs Jesus, God's Son, to redeem any of us.

Revelation 20 says the judgment will be a fair trial and the punishment will be only according to one's own conducts. Nothing less, nothing more. We know God is infinitely more wise, merciful and just than any of us and we also know the sense of time is different in different dimensions. We can completely relax in the justice of God and spend ourselves in evangelism while alive because Jesus is vital and we love God and the fellow humans.

In short, if a morally responsible creature doesn't make the Creator God #1 in his life, he is out of the spotlight permanently and rightly so.

Yes, I agree. Infinitely many things are unknowable in this dimension simply because we are creatures. God alone is all-wise and all-knowing. I may not be entirely right, but as all the mighty glorious civilizations were a mere background to Israel, I just wonder if this world is just a background for God's people. I mean, I find every non-Christian incredibly SHALLOW comparing to Christians. (Yes, we do have carnal "Christians" with us who are said to act worse than unbelievers.) But comparing to the true born-again Christians, natural human's quality indeed differ like heaven and earth, especially in caring how God feels and in motivation in absolute sense. We've been tricked into believing in equalization of all humanity but in reality there IS spiritual difference because of knowing Christ. The Christ alone makes dead men alive. We just never admit it because it is so "politically wrong." The dead gets their shares in this world because they care only about themselves in the bottom line. Saying this, we know from the Bible God is just and He has ways to make everything fair for all persons(including the fallen angels) whom He has decided to create from the eternity past.
