The luxurious lifestyle of Benny HInn

But there's a point missed here- the wealth he has is also a tool for what he's doing. From what I know, he travels all over the world, holding conferences and events which bring thousands to the Lord.

Ken Fulton Almazan (Forgive me if I ramble a bit here) You've got a good point here, that we are supposed to depend on God. Also, we are not here to serve riches or wealth, and we don't base our well-being or happiness on it. But there's an idea that is less heard. God wants to bless us, and sometimes he blesses people financially so that they can go and do His work. In that way it is a blessing to the person, and to the people that they minister to. Take Billy Graham, or Benny Hinn or ministries like World Vision- they naturally require more resources than a full-time pastor, but they also have a greater reach. 1 timothy 6:10 says that "The LOVE of money is the root of all kinds of evil." It seems that most people forget that word "love" in there, and have then personified money as evil. If you have money, you certainly can't be doing any good. (I don't know if the Evil, Rich, Corporate Head who is merciless comes from this idea, but it's interesting to note.) Now I have heard of a few people who have taken a vow of poverty, a kind of sacrifice to the Lord. But this isn't the model for us, or even the point of this kind of conversation. It's about whether we continue to serve God and put Him above everything else in our lives (as you pointed out above.)

Just read these verses from the Bible: “Give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the LORD?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.” (Proverbs 30:8-9). “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also… No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.” (Matthew 6:19-21, 24)

Has anyone considered the idea that God has blessed him for his ministry and his commitment to the Lord? Some Christians go around praying all day for the Lord the "bless them" because they have bad finances. But what happens when someone else is blessed? "Oh, he shouldn't have all that money! He's only doing it for his own gain! He needs to give more!", etc. Susan; Why do you say that? While some people are called to poverty for the Lord, giving what they have, does that mean that everyone needs to live that way? And just because someone HAS money does not meant that they LOVE money; there's a difference.

if Benny took half of the money that he spent on himself for palace hotels, mercedes, 10 million dollar home, private jet etc etc he could save soooooo many people from starvation! Is he a footstep follower of the Christ, who, did not have a place to lay his head? Footstep followers are supposed to walk in Christs steps closely-- living and doing as he did ---Jesus came to fulfill a ministry-- not make money for himself. 2 Timothy 3:1-5 in the last days men will be..... lovers of money, lovers of pleasure-- having a 'form' of godly devotion, but proving false to its power and from these turn away.
