Thanks for sharing your heart. My church choir is learning the choral version, and I've left choir lately, honestly not sure if I liked the song, because of pain and suffering my family has gone through in the last few years. I certainly didn't feel that our pain was a blessing. I do understand the "blessedness" that you talk about at the end of this video--that we are blessed to have become closer to God and to our Christian brothers and sisters through sharing our pain. God did not cause my mom's neurological disease which caused her to suffer for years, and finally die, but because He is with us, comforting us, healing us, and because she is finally totally healed in Heaven, we are blessed. Now that I understand where you are coming from--a place of pain and questioning, I can relate to the song.
