Way to go, George! You're a good Kentucky boy! I pray you will continue to visit with the His house. You may be a witness to someone there, without knowing it until later in your life. I am sure the "Light of Jesus" shines through you!

I am so sorry Colleen to hear that, but unfortunately to many fail to read the word and put it into their hearts and allow the Holy Spirit to do the work in them. that we as Christians are to comfort one another and edify and lift up a fallen brother, not judge out of self righteousness. Please pray for those that have hurt you and above all forgive them. there are Spirit filled churches out there But unfortunately to many have fallen asleep and have one foot in the world and not have their heart where it belongs. Don't give up or harden your heart because of their ignorance. I will pray for you that the Lord heals your hurts. God bless you

Going to church is not about us, it is about God. While we shop and compare we will never find a community to settle into. No church is perfect, it should be Christ centred and gospelly correct. It can be small or big, noisy or quiet, poor or rich. God plants us where He wants us. "Let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another (Hebrews 10:24-25).

I know exactly how you feel and guess what? I'm a Pastor! Oh the Church, an assortment of nuts and chews... And He gave Himself for it! And he's coming back for it. Amazing!! Ive been asked many times over the years, 'Is there a perfect Church?' I've always answered, "If you ever find a perfect Church, don't join, because it won't be perfect any longer". Listen Colleen, don't go for the people, they're all losers, just like you and me, go for Jesus and go for the teaching of His Word! That means find a Bible teaching Church, one that does not take the text out of context. Forget the reformed Churches and stay ways from most of the denomination Churches too. No denomination ever gave itself for you. Only Jesus! In Psalms 138:2 God says He essteems His Word above His own Name. Why, becasue in the beginning was the Word, John 1:1 and the Word became flesh, John 1:14. So get to a Bible (Word) teaching Church and let's join in waiting for the One that will make it all perfect. And know that I will be praying for you!

Colleen, God knows your situation and can heal your hurts. Again I have been hurt at most of the churches I attended even to the point that I rejected God's call on my life for a while but that is what Satan wanted. Offense is the bait of satan to get us out of God's will for our lives. Eph.4:11 It was he who "gave gifts to people"; he appointed some to be apostles, others to be prophets, others to be evangelists, others to be pastors and teachers. Eph 4:12 He did this to prepare all God's people for the work of Christian service, in order to build up the body of Christ. Eph 4:13 And so we shall all come together to that oneness in our faith and in our knowledge of the Son of God; we shall become mature people, reaching to the very height of Christ's full stature. Eph 4:14 Then we shall no longer be children, carried by the waves and blown about by every shifting wind of the teaching of deceitful people, who lead others into error by the tricks they invent. Eph 4:15 Instead, by speaking the truth in a spirit of love, we must grow up in every way to Christ, who is the head. Eph 4:16 Under his control all the different parts of the body fit together, and the whole body is held together by every joint with which it is provided. So when each separate part works as it should, the whole body grows and builds itself up through love.

Colleen, the church is a microcosm of the world, with all the attitudes, emotions, wrongs and rights of the world, and, well, hypocrites. Yet, do we go to church for them, or for God? We can worship & pray by ourselves, but we also need community for corporate prayer & corporate worship. If you take an ember out of the fire, pretty soon its heat source, its life source, is diminished, then extinguished. Apart, we are not the Body of Christ; together we are.

Colleen, I have been hurt quite a few times myself, but there is good churches and good church people out there you just need to pray and let God lead you which church you need to be in. You can choose still not to go because not going to church will not send you to hell but it can keep you going toward Heaven instead away from it. God says in His Word we should go to church and even Jesus is our example in going and you cannot be perfected (matured) without going to church. Eph.4:11-21, Heb. 10:25-29, Luke 4:14-16, Psalms 133:1-3

Two points, Point one; when Jesus told Peter to get out of the boat and walk on the water to Him Peter did, but as soon as he took his eyes off Jesus he began to sink. So too may we, as long as we look at Jesus an not those around us, walk on top of the sea of people. Let us take our eyes off Jesus and we will begin to sink. Point two; Jesus said if you love me you will keep my commandments. Fellowshiping with other believers is a commandment re: Heb. 10:25.

It must be nice to be so righteous and good. To obey as you see you should. But I wont be guilted or bullied into going to church, not anymore. Throwing a few bible verses out there dosent make you right for my situation wich you know none of. It nice to have opions about things when we have all the information in order to have an opion. You have no opion here.

Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Attributes of the Spirit I wish I could display 24-7 but oh how I fail and fall short of this my goal.

In order for God to show us His Glory, it has to be less of us and more of Him. Unless a seed fall to the ground and die, it will remain a seed and bare no fruit. Unless we die to ourselves, we will not be able to bare the fruit of the Spirit!
