Administering CPR is not "heroic". It's commendable, it's even admirable in a 9 year old. It's not heroic. We continue to dumb down the language. When everything is "awesome" or "amazing" or "heroic", then nothing really is any of those things. We've used up all the superlatives on trivial things, and have no words left which have special meaning.

CPR classes should be freely available all year round on Saturdays where adults and older children should be encouraged to attend and practice on a doll. Schools should practice too! First Aid classes should also be freely available all year round on Saturdays. Schools need to give First Aid classes too. Self defense classes and shooting classes should be available over the weekends. We learnt to shoot and defense classes were given to us in High School. It made me extra vigilant!

it proves that if you treat the child as an equal when teaching them something important, they listen, well done tristan, it always pays to listen.

I read a book by Dee Henderson called "The Rescuer" In one of the chapters, Stephen tells Meghan about his childhood. Stephen was nine and his birth sister, Peg, was four. Stephen was doing something and Peg snuck out. She was obessed with their neighbor's pool. She could swim like a fish, but that day, something went wrong. Stephen went outside and found Peg face down, motionless. He didn't know CPR. Tristan, you're the modern-day Stephen O'Malley. God bless you!

Train your children CPR and If you don't know CPR take a class. Don't be unprepared or think it doesn't happen to you. It only takes a minute to drown and every second counts after..I have had twp encounters. Once with my little daughter and years later with her son. We were blessed that we knew CPR. You do not have time for panic and the terror of finding your child floating is the most horrible feeling in the world, but when those little eyes flutter it is a feeling I can never convey. Answered Prayers....Please don't take your eyes of you little one and take a class. It does happen to YOU! No matter how alert you are things happen in a flash! God Bless Each of you.
