U2 Lifts Praises to God at a Concert Performing Yahweh and a Psalm 40 Song!

Abigail Packer, you hit the nail on the head. I'm not fooled one bit by this concert and this is yet another faux pas on GodTube's part. It seems to me, they will take nearly anything and call it "Christian-enough" and post it. Where's the discernment? Where's the Holy Spirit in this? And thank you Brother Mark Ketchum for spelling it out for everyone. We need to be living in the gospel truth and we have every right according to scripture to judge righteously and to flee from sin. Thank you and God bless you all.

Waayyy out of context Ken, as Mark said. I was super enjoying the worship and song and how everyone was singing... God was enjoying it as well, without a doubt. But the comment about Bono's theology and unbiblical perception and professions is pretty much accurate. Let's get real and not be all fluffy. Nice song and I could totally enjoy it in church and the car, etc. If this man's comment is true, then give it credit and move on.

Psalm 40 King James Version (KJV). 1 I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. 2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. 3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord. 4 Blessed is that man that maketh the Lord his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies. 5 Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered. 6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required. 7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me, 8 I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart. 9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O Lord, thou knowest. 10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation. 11 Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O Lord: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me. 12 For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me. 13 Be pleased, O Lord, to deliver me: O Lord, make haste to help me. 14 Let them be ashamed and confounded together that seek after my soul to destroy it; let them be driven backward and put to shame that wish me evil. 15 Let them be desolate for a reward of their shame that say unto me, Aha, aha. 16 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: let such as love thy salvation say continually, The Lord be magnified. 17 But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God. <3 ALLELUIA AMEN N AMEN <3 MAY GOD BLESS BRO MAN O:)

What this verse is saying is that we are not to judge unless we expect to be judged in the same way. So if I am telling you not to lie, I had better be sure I am not lying or my judgment will be the same. It doesn't mean that we are not to judge... but not to judge if we aren't ready to be judged the same way.

What lovely way to leave your audience in this prayerful, uplifting way. What courage it took to leave the Holy Rosary, a symbol of faith, on your mic. May the Lord whom you honor reverently continue to bless and help you in your lives and music.

I love U2, I have watched him over the years and believe God has anointed him greatly and while I do not agree with all he says there is a love about him that you cannot deny.

I say, Amen! Glory to God! My testimony regarding this band, was that when I was younger, I saw U2 in concert. I was not a Christian, and they were on the tour for Sunday Bloody Sunday. I knew nothing about their politics (which is probably most of the kids who show up to their concerts), but I was struck by the fact that they were singing about God. They ruined my perception of concerts, in a good way;-), and their message stuck with me for years. You may not agree with the politics or their idea of faith (I certainly don't always), but they ARE sharing the Lord with millions by singing these songs, and others. They showed me that Christianity was cool, which for me, at the time, was a stepping stone. God obviously has a purpose for them, He certainly used them in my life. He is judge of Bono's and any other's salvation. The Lord's blessings come to all those who diligently seek Him~.

Bono, like many entertainers, has an incredible opportunity to influence young and old alike. My concern is that Bono, like many entertainers, send mix messages to the young and old. If one lives by the philosophy that "the end justifies the means," which is not a biblical approach, I guess entertainers, like Bono, can do whatever their desires are in any given situation. However, it's somewhat perplexing when Bono, in an interview with Pastor Bill Hybels, can boldly state that he "loves Jesus Christ but he can't stand Christians" clearly sends the wrong message for the young and old! Or, what about being on live TV and blurting out the F-bomb as if that's honoring to God and positively influencing his "Christian" audience! I guess I shouldn't pick on Bono. After all, Christianity has been waning and compromising long before Bono came on the scene! But, to Bono's credit, he has good business sense or has associates with good business sense to realize that Christians are consumers as well and they will buy anything the rest of the world buys!

Back in the early '80's, U2 was more Christian. It was before they got big and very obvious at their concerts. So this isn't new for them, more like returning to something they've known since their beginning.
