Hi I think what he is saying is that the Bible talks about getting repenting, getting baptized in Jesus name for remission of your sins and then receiving the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38, Mark 16:16-19 , Acts 19:1-6, being born of the water and the Spirit, John 3:3-8 and many other scriptures that tell us we must obey God's word if we are His disciples. may say these are works but that is nto what the Bible says. These are what God told us to do to be saved and have eternal life. If we believe we MUSt obey. If we love Him we will obey Him. Obedience is better than sacrifice. Blessings

I think what he was trying to say was that we are redeemed by the grace of god and not by praying a prayer that invites "christ into our life". Although if we recieve christ and we do say a prayer to thank him for revealing himself to us in such an amazing way that is a different story. But when creator of the universe that gave us a new life did he really need our acceptance, or did we need his. That is the difference between "Accepting christ" and "Recieving Christ". he gave us life by revelation of himself, not by us praying to accept his love. He made us alive in him, we didn't make ourselves alive in him by accepting him. Ephesians 2:4-9 says, "But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, Made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast." (Ephesians 2:4-9 ESV).

Well, I don't know how much experience you have, but the process of redeeming starts with a simple prayer...

I would be very cautios on your side David! What about Ro. 10:9-10 "because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved."? etc.

Its not cult like; the modern church is preaching a gospel that is trying to appeal to the population and that's the problem. They make it sound easy and basically say "by saying a simple prayer were redeemed", and its not like that at all... If they don't give their lives fully over and keep living in sin and think just because they said a prayer they are fine, then obviously there is deception... 1 John 5-7 says "This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin." (1 John 1:5-7 ESV) and that is what is missing... Modern evangalism is trying to sell "Fire Insurance" and rack up their attendance numbers rather than preach the gospel like it is... The word of god preached at its best, is the explicit gospel my brother.
