Show me in the Bible where is says we can forgive people for the things they do to others. I don't know of any verse that supports such a thing. We can only forgive people for things they do that affect us. Forgiving people for the things they do to others is unbiblical and shows a certain hubris imo. If Paul can find God, I am sure this killer can also. But again, he deserves death and if he repents that's between him and God.

On the news I have heard much talk of "tragedy". First, this is not a tragedy. A tragedy is a tidal wave that hits a village. As we all know, an evil massacre took place, which is more accurate and gives respect to what the victims when through---along with the heroes that lost their lives saving their girlfriends from a monster inside the theatre. Like many, my prayers go out to the murdered and the heroes that had courage to protect others from evil. Like many, I support Prison Fellowship; where the Gospel is made available for the convicted to see the Love of God and to repent.

Jesus died so that all might come to repentance. Praying that the gunman repents of what he has done and that he comes to a saving knowledge of Jesus is appropriate. I don't understand how one sinner can say another sinner shouldn't be prayed for (or at least imply such a thing). I am so thankful that the blood of Jesus is sufficient to cover all the sins of every man, woman, and child who has lived or will ever live and that all anyone needs to do is "call upon the name of the Lord."

A song is a prayer if you're singing it. All I meant was that I had expected to hear the pastor lead his people in a prayer for him.

We are to pray for and even love our enemies...it is the word of God. So I pray for him and his family along with all the other victims and their families and friends.

A pity the pastor didn't finish his prayer on the video....but we pray for the families.

I'm so glad to know that Christian people are reaching out in this way. After seeing him in such a drugged condition I am almost sure he is suffering from a very severe mental illness, schizophrenia. I believe that they have had to put hom on Thorzine to even be able to question him. My son is a psych nurse in a Veteran's hospital and he takes care of men in that condition. They hear voices that tell them over and over what to do and it is never good. For a bizarre example, one of his patients cut off his own penis and flushed down the toilet so it couldn't be reattached. If he could be convinced to do that I'm sure Holmes could have bee convinced to do what he did. Once they are put on medication to still the voices they often have another type of nervous breakdown over what they have done. Sadly, the medications have such awful side effects that patients think they are better and stop taking their meds and are right back in deep trouble. My son's frined in high school was undiagnosed and in their Sr. year, he stabbed his mother to death following the instructions from the voices. He then was hospitalized for many years to treat him for the insanity over that he had done. I most resently was able to help a Christian frined get help for her 12 year old daughter who was manifesting symptoms of the disease. She is hospitalized until she is 21 due to a court order when she was trying to disable the alarm on the family home and set it on fire. I know it is hard to feel compassion for a man who has done such a horrible thing but he too is a beloved child of God. Why God allows this is not understandable to me either, but He does and I have to believe He is still in control of this fallen world.

I pray for this young man. Like Jesus said on the cross, they know not what they do. He needs God in his life.

I pray for James and the Holmes family.. this is what Jesus would do! As a mother myself, I can only imagine what the family is going thru. Prayers for the victims and their families as well, peace and comfort.

This is God's will for His children... "Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not. Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep." "Recompense to no man evil for evil." - Romans 12:14-15, 17. Following the teaching and example left by our LORD Jesus, we must overcome evil with love.
