Becki, I see that you have an appreciation for a GREAT voice! What I said, that you called me on, I said as a singer and musician and a minister, not as a critic, about Whitney. It just jumped out at me because of my experience with music composition and performance I guess. Perhaps I did sound judgmental, but I didn't mean it that way. She did not convince me at that moment that she thought she was saved. She poured herself into the song beautifully, except for when she hesitated. Maybe she was just reflecting back to her past at that moment but the hesitation she showed 'in her eyes' did speak and it didn't convince me of the words she was singing in that phrase. In your defense of her, you seem to be saying that I 'have no right' to think what you thought I meant by my comment. Actually you thought what I thought, she did not convince me that she had been found. Great music presents itself, with a believable message of what the artist is singing. Otherwise it falls short. I can see how you thought I was judging wrongfully. Now you know my prospective - she didn't convince me on that part. I am a person however, that does not convince myself of things where the evidence shows the opposite. But as you pointed out, I am not all knowing. Hey, I still hope Elvis is in heaven... He was my neighbor at one time and I loved his singing voice.

Thankfully she didn't have to convince you, only God knows her heart. You, nor I, know her heart or the trials and tribulations she went through in this life. If we were all judged by our behavior, none of us would be saved. I pray that she is in Heaven and we will get to hear her beautiful voice in the Heavenly Choir.

Well I have to say it, she did great, those of you who are here? ng her spirituality and even her relationship with the LORD, shame on you....look at your own relationship see if it's in order.....you best make sure....you haters and negative speaking folks.....pls tell me you're not christian...cause christians are always postive speaking...I say always because they are.....those that tend to allow their flesh to rule over their spirit..this is what you get, negative speaking......shameful you are!

What's wrong with some of you people who think Whitney messed up the song? I love a good song made even better by a fantastic singer. I only wish she could have really experienced what she was singing - "I was lost but now am found". She did not convince me on that part, in fact, I saw her hesitating to try to convince herself. Nonetheless, she sang it BEAUTIFULLY.

I disagree she was great with her rendition of it.

If only she could have continue to pull from the realm of heaven and not get distracted. She's home now. God has a plan make no mistake about it.

SAX PLAYER WAS GREAT. WHITNEY'S VERSION OF AMAZING GRACE TERRIBLE.

  • 2012-12-29T17:07:28

No doubt her voice was stunning! But this was just ok. I too prefer gospel classics to change very little in renditions of them. I also dislike for the National Anthem to be changed so much by some who sing it. That is why my favorite rendition of it WAS Whitney...She kept it so real with her splendid voice, that I cry every time I hear it. There has NEVER been a better National Anthem performed....JMO.

It was good if you were looking for a performance from a saxophone player--Whitney was not that great!
