Good Samaritan Finds Homeless Man Digging in Trash For Food - Then Does The Kindest Thing

He should not have filmed the act of kindness.God says to give in secret so as the father could in in return bless you.To do an confess to others is the same thing the world does so that is the only blessing you shall recieve.

I kept waiting for the man to do "the kindest thing" that is described in the title... even nonbelievers buy homeless people food. Just saying.

The verse about not doing good deeds to be seen by men is in the Sermon on the Mount. (Matthew 5-7) So is the verse that says "Let your light shine before men so that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." This is not a contradiction. The difference is in WHY we let others see what we do, whether it's to glorify ourselves or Him. God alone knows the motives of this man. The rest of us need to concentrate on making sure our own motives are pure.

Hi government guy. I hope you help others, especially since your salary comes from taxpayers. =)

The guy never once showed himself, so I don't think he was trying to glorify himself. It didn't impress me as a "look what I am doing" type of video. It's a random act of kindness and it does show us how easy it is for us to commit random acts of kindness as well.

We should be careful when we quote scripture, not knowing a situation in its' entirety? (I am in no way 'judging' you Deborah, I SINCERELY mean this) The 'giver' in this video, 'may', or 'may not' be a Believer? God causes the rain to fall on the 'Just', & the 'unjust', it is recorded in the same book (Matthew) you quoted from. It is logistical grace. I did not think the man buying the guy digging through the trash (apparently for food), was in any way boastful, arrogant, or proud? I saw an act of kindness, something far too many of us, (I TOP THE LIST), who call ourselves Believers, followers of Christ, 'do' far too infrequently. This video humbled me, & reminded me what TRUE 'Christianity', really 'is'.(BTW - Matthew 5 verse 45 is the verse I quoted from) AGAIN, not 'judging', God will use this act of kindness, (as HE does ALL THINGS), for His Will, & His Purposes. (Rom. 8 , 26 - 30)

Matthew 6:3 comes to mind on this but ultimately we don't know who this fellow is so I see no boasting. Regardless, this gent did something for this man in need that 99% of the people that passed him on the street didn't do! As long as you don't inflate your ego brother and realize that you're only able to show love because of God working through you to show it. It's never about us!

if you cannot say nice word to this guy just keep quiet cuz not all christian can do what he did. sad that we christian are easy to judge. his love for Jesus prompted this guy to help. GOD BLESS HIM FOR HIS WONDERFUL DEEDS.

That is a helmet cam on his helmet worn by many bicyclist especially commuters...doubt seriously he gave it a second thought that is was even on at that moment. I also doubt seriously the homeless man knew he was being filmed...and why would it matter...when your hungry you hungry.

  • 2013-01-30T16:30:19

Of course it was a HELMET CAM (not webcam as I wrote:))

  • 2013-01-30T16:19:32

Regardless of his filming the good deed which I don't know if the camera was on his helmet I am glad the man had something to eat. He didn't ask for much more. This is something we saw and perhaps remind us that there are homeless and hungry people who need a good samaritan.

Agree...I prefer seeing someone giving than all this judging!!

This guy did something that some of here do not do. And I include myself in that. I repent. And I need to say that in the Bible, God specifically says "alms giving" to the needy has to be in secret. The right hand must not know what the left id doing. Mathew 6.3. This is not just to allow the Father to reward us but to save the dignity of the person who is being helped, who is also created in the image and likeness of Him who who has given to you so that you may give. There is an additional warning too. All we have is from God and we cannot assume that we can do alms giving in the open and expect God to give us good things and when we do not get, we cannot blame God. All other types of giving: tithes, offerings, first fruits: can be published and told but not alms giving to the needy. Let those who have ears, hear what the Lord has to say. All said and done, I do not know who both these guys are anyway. May God bless them with His blessing.
