Tim Buckle: Rape is rape, a criminal activity. Apparently you think that women are unable to think for themselves and choose to dress more modestly, resulting in a personal attack on someone who appreciates the choices his wife has made.

I wear bikinis...

This is some huge ass gibberish. First off, if you want to compare dress codes and what people from 60 years ago thought about bikinis, why not just move 20 more years back or so. She would have been compared to a whore. In the early 1900's women weren't allowed to show their ankles. Women weren't allowed to be heard bathing in their own home even by their husbands. Women were supposed to wear layers upon layers of clothing. Come on!!!! Why only pick on the "sexy" part of getting dressed? Quite frankly, weather you bribe that you came from God or from monkeys, you were not born covered or to hide. Clothing didn't even exist when men first started life. Covering up in a particular way was a law/rule made by men, and nothing else. Andddd.....what goes through a woman's head when she sees a sexy half naked man? Should they cover up? I'm seen as a lady weather I wear a bikini, jeans or a dress. Not going to ponder over the rules men made for women.

Cam Crowder i had already put this, but for some reason it isn't showing up .... so far as the (buzzword) body shaming goes. it is the perpetuation of the beauty myth via vessels like the bikini that give these girls this "body shaming" stuff ... i have never known a woman who didn't have some sort of self loathing over body shape, size etc etc ... so you actually destroyed your own argument there. the chronic misrepresentation of the female body by media, tv, movies and magazines (using an awful lot of bikini's lol) has caused the whole issue ... so give up man, you destroyed your own argument and actually magnified my whole point for me ... nice one

Maria Neida Alvarado being comfortable in your own skin means you can wear whatever you want without any concerns of what people think. I have no objection of any women wearing anything modest and it is to be respected. But If I choose to wear a skimpy bikini, I am to be respected too. For whatever reason a woman wears a two piece, it's nobody's business but mine because it's my body and I can put whatever I want on it, just as you want to put as much fabric as you want on yours. This presentation is drawing attention to what men think of girl based on what she wears. It's justifying the sexist and disrespectful behavior of women being objectified and put the blame on women. That violates a woman's autonomy on her body and releases men from the responsibility for their behavior. Such statement is only perpetuating rape culture that many both men and women commenting on my post are supporting.

Duy Ngo This culture of blaming women for what they wear has nothing to do with whatever religion one holds. If you have senses and know how to respect others (which takes good parenting, nurturing and a supportive society) it wouldn't matter what a girl wears. Women have been objectified even when they wear burkas. The problem is the society that is permissive to men to do whatever they want and get away with anything disrespectful that they do and leave the mess to the weaker group (in this case women) to be responsible for. Hormones and desires may be raging, but being human with sense of humanity, you don't to others what you don't want to be done unto you. Simple as that. When you talked of restraint, who are supposed to restrain themselves? If there's respect and balance in relationships between people, there'll be no need for restraint.

At first I was kind of agreeing with this but when she started getting all business I knew it was nothing more than a business pitch for people to buy her stuff. Honestly, the way the brain works is a complicated thing just studying brain waves does not say anything about the person. A lot of the brain is a sub conscious thing that happens. Im sure if you could look inside everyone's brain even the most normal everyday person would sometimes have horribly disturbing thoughts, but they don't act on those thoughts they are just there because its our brain. Its shown that rape fantasies are the number 1 or 2 top fantasies in about 60% of females, does that mean a female wants to be raped? ABSOLUTELY NOT, its just something they fantasize about (the whole losing power and being in control of a man) its just our brains being our brains. Whats important is not our brains but what we do (Hitler thought he was dong the right thing). Also I modesty has nothing/little to do with what they wear. If you wear a bikini in the dead of winter in the city then yea you might be a little immodest, but if its at the beach where its acceptable then its all good. You can be modest wearing a bikini or immodest fully clothes with your shoulders and ankles covered (grandparents will get this analogy). Its about how you act. Before anyone says anything I am a Christian and my friend who grew up in a christian home (his parents are both pastors) all think the same way I do, we've talked about this. In fact his sister who is 16 wears one.

Katie O'Leary I agree! We lived in Panama City Beach during spring break I can not take my boys out because the girls are dressed like they are trying out for Girls Gone wild. My 2yr old at the time would say mommy look nene( his word for breast) my 5 year old would say they are half dressed and this was at Wal Mart! I have seen girls giggle with guys and walk off and the guys shake their heads and laugh making jokes.

Maria Neida Alvarado Totally agree I think women who where dental floss to the beach have self esteem issues. Probably the same if not more then someone overweight. If you are so comfortable you don't need to dress in dental floss. You know you look great modestly dressed. You want me to raise my boys to respect women but there are women they will never respect because they don't respect themselves.

Anthony Thompson Iv is this the type of message you put out or receive at Water of life Christian Church? beauty is only defined by plastic surgery and diets. I feel for any of your non stereotypical beautiful women in your church.

Karli Addele Moore Ditto! Its funny how ppl talk about Christian morals yet seem to apply it to only things and ppl that suite their taste. Apparently many find it attractive or the society would die out. Also not everyone finds fake breast attractive. Lets not even get started on Luciano Dos Santos savage comment.

I just want to point out, I know of some congregations who would call the speaker herself immodest because her dress has no sleeves. We all have differing definitions of the word "modest."

Cam Crowder every woman i have ever known has body image issues ... so actually you just defeated your own argument, because the bikini is just more pressure to conform to a bullshit media image that very few real women do. so thank you for putting your case to death. (btw i work 6 days a week eleven hours a day, have a sick wife and haven't had a vacation/ day off in two years, so if i was supposed to sympathise, i don't really sympathise that much)

Jenny Lee Ortiz Miss Lee, i am an agnostic so god does not have anything to do with this. But what i do know is how dude around my age think, since the same flows through my mind once upon a time. i have excellent self control but you cannot expect guys to behave as you say, atleast not in the direction our society is moving. From the age of around 12-21 guys are driven mainly by hormone so there is no helping that. if all dudes were to learn the kind of control you have in mind this whole clothing problem would be a thing of the pass. but sadly it isnt, in the end we human are desire driven people, everyone is moved by desire. i feel that the kind of clothing trend we're moving toward is one that's driven purely by sexual desires. i like this saying" a person is smart, but peoples are stupid", so instead of expecting what people should be, we should exercise some restraint ourselves.
