Being from a coal town in wv this song and story meant more than words or tears can tell. I never met my one grandfather as he died in a mine fall in Fairmont wv along with many others in that town but I look forward to meeting him in glory someday and we will hav eternity to get to know each other. This kid has the potential to succeed in the music industry as well as many other coal people like Dolly Parton and so way other country singers. I wish him all the glory he can handle and don't fdorget songs about coal as so many of us have a story but will never get a chance to chase those dreams. Goodspeed and the best for you and your family. I almost forgot I used to deliver water pumps to the mines in your town. Wonder if any are still working?

Kristen, sometimes I want to wring his neck, but as his father I love him and I am proud of who he has become. Thank you for introducing him to the type of love that lets him be who he is and understand and supports him at the same time.

He's my hero too. Thank you for sharing your amazing son with me.

I spent 8 years in the Air Force and then 20 years in an 2,000ft underground in a coalmine here in Alabama. I married my high school sweetheart and had two children. Now I have 6 grandchildren and one adopted grand-daughter in Arizona. I have had a blessed life. If I had chased my dream years ago, I would have gone on and played baseball. It was my life for 10 years until my Daddy died. I wouldn't change not one thing in my life, but thank God this young man is trying to change his. I didn't want my son to work in the coalmines, and he didn't. He followed his dream to be in the military and serve his country. He is and will always be my hero...

Humility is confidence - properly placed in Christ. This young man knows Whose he is...and you can see he's walking it out. What an incredible blessing... "Thank you, Lord, thank you, Jimmy!" <><.
