| About Me: | After completing my BS in Psychology in 1982 and Masters in Social Work from LSU in 1985, I worked as both an inpatient and outpatient counselor in various substance abuse and psychiatric treatment facilities, including serving as clinical director at an alcoholism treatment center. Since 1987 I have maintained a full-time private practice specializing in marital counseling and addictive disorders. In 1999 I founded Bienvenu Counseling Services, a non-profit Christian organization, committed to evangelizing, educating and equipping individuals and families through professional, Christian counseling, educational seminars, counselor training programs, and the development and distribution of educational resources. As Director of Bienvenu Counseling Services, I maintain a client caseload and supervise the seven other counselors on staff. I generally speak about twenty to thirty times per year to hundreds of lay people at free local seminars, church-sponsored events, and conferences on marriage, communication, anger management, and parenting. For two and a half years (2002-2004) I co-hosted a live radio talk show called Straight Talk that was very popular in the community. Over the past eight years I have regularly spoken at annual professional conferences sponsored by: American Association of Christian Counselors, Louisiana Counselors Association, National Association of Social Workers-LA, and Louisiana Association for Substance Abuse Counselors and Trainers. I have also conducted several all-day training seminars for professional counselors and pastors statewide. In addition to having published three books I have produced over 85 other educational materials including workbooks, DVD small-group series, and over three hundred hours of teaching available in audio/video, CD/DVD formats. |
