Will Life Slow Down?

Will Life Slow Down?

Today we have an "express" way of doing everything. What ever happened to the good ole days of waiting for the ice cream to be made to perfection? What about the times we spent watching "Little House on the Prairie"? Does anyone besides me feel that we are moving so fast it seems that it is hard to catch our breath?

There are many people that never can seem to put the gear shift into 4th or even 3rd gear, especially people who are in ministry. Some how life seems to be stuck in 5th and every time we allow ourselves a small amount of leisure it last only for a brief moment.

Yes, I know the economy less than stable and gas continues to increase and it seems that the church is paralyzed in a frozen stage of infancy. So what do we need to do? How are we able to live in a world of compromise people who want all they can get from the material world? What are we to do when teenagers seem to care about their friends more than family? And how are we to battle against technology that gives us what we want when we want it? I mean, 1 million people have the new i-Phone...donât you?

There is one thing that remains the same and since the beginning of time He has suggested that His people would take the time to be still, stay strong and separate yourself from this world.

I pray that when you read Psalm 46:1-11 that it will remind you and me that God has not left us to survive on our own. He is our ever present help, our refuge and our strength. Trust in Him and Jesus will carry you through is all.

Psalm 46:1-11

God is our refuge and strength, an ever- present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. Selah. There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts. The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah. Come and see the works of the LORD, the desolations he has brought on the earth. He makes wars to cease to the ends of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear, he burns the shields with fire. "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah.
