The metaphor of the Christian life as warfare -against the evil world system, the believer's sinful nature, and Satan- is a familiar one in the New Testament.
See: 2 CORINTHIANS 10:3-5 EPHESIANS 6:10-20 1 THESSALONIANS 4:8 1 TIMOTHY 1:18; 4:7; 6:12.
But here in 2 Timothy, Paul is dealing with the conflict against the hostile world and it's persecution.
To be human is to hate pain and suffering (Eph.5:29)
Yet suffering is inescapable for humanity and especially for Christians (2 Tim.3:12). Maybe we don't think suffering is part of the ordinary Christian life. For sure, the Seed Faith movement would not. But the Apostle Peter was inspired to write of the suffering and glory of his readers. -1 Peter 1:3-9; 2:9-25; 3:12-17; 4:1-4, 12-19; 5:9&10

But most importantly; I love the Lord, I believe the Bible IS the inspired written Word of God and we should fashion our lives unto it, not the other way around! I belive we are saved by grace through faith alone, but we should not "rest on our laurels" as far as "works" are concerned. Lastly, but certainly not least, I believe with all my heart that "the Rapture" is a very real event destined to happen in our lifetime, maybe even TODAY!! |

Then he said, "So that you may surely learn to sense what is vital, and approve and prize what is excellent and of real value' It is very important to be a person of excellence-to do your very best every day in all you believe God is asking you to do .. to do every job to the best of your ability.
