Hey,
Check out my songs if you have time. How hard is it to play a tin whistle? It that the instrument that guy is playing in the song on your profile? I'd like to learn how to play that instrument just for fun. Is it more like playing a recorder or a flute?

trevorkuntz added: 15 days ago
Have you ever heard of Flatfoot 56 by the way? It's a good irish rock band. They are not Irish though, they're from Chicago but they sound and play Irish.

Hi! Sorry it's taken me so long to respond.

So you said in response to my grouping all god believers together.
" the doctrine of mormon is a false doctrine but the true Christians who follow the Bible and Jews called also "Messianic Jews" who believe in The Messiah of Israel :"

My question Who gave you authority to interpret scripture and decide that the Mormon teachings are wrong?

What about the Jehovah's Wittnesses?
They believe in God and Jesus.
are they the same as any other Christians? They say that they use the Bible and interpret the "correct meaning" of scripture.

What's up brother? Well, I finally got a job as the chief electrical engineer aboard a jack-up drilling platform. It was interesting how I didn't get one phone call for two months, and then suddenly, company recruiters were banging down my door. The job is in SE Asia, so our family can live anywhere in US. Therefore, we are moving to the city of Maricopa, AZ, leaving Oregon on the 5th or 6th. That particular area, being heavy (heavy!) hispanic, is also heavy, (HEAVY) Catholic. So that's great! The schools are great and the houses are affordable.

I will be leaving the country, possibly heading for Singapore, around the 21 of August. I'll be gone for 28 days. (Remember my wife and children in your prayers) And then I will get back and have 28 days off. That is the rotation.

AARRRGG. I have to run. But real quick...Did I tell you Christine is pregnant? Yeah, #6 arrives in January. Peace out bro,

Your friend in Christ,

Josh

I quote you "So are you saying that Jews and Christians and Mormons are all in the same group?"

And I answer you that the doctrine of mormon is a false doctrine but the true Christians who follow the Bible and Jews called also "Messianic Jews" who believe in The Messiah of Israel : "Yeshua" (Jesus) and who follow The Word of God, we are one people, we are the Church, the Keilah because we are United with One Messiah : "Yeshua", One King : "Yeshua", One God : "The God of Israel" !

Answer 1 /
Yes because the Word of God Is God!

John 1 : 1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Answer 2 /
Matthiew 15:6
Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.

catholic church have many traditions who made the Word of God of none effect.

1 John 2 : 5
But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him.

Keep the Word of God means that we need to follow Only God by His Holy Word.
The word of human being who follow the Word of God, it's good but when the word of the human beig doesn't follow the Word of God, it's bad.
The Bible Is the Compass to show us what God says to us.

Answer 3 /
I believe in the Last Supper, in the Pessah (Easter) like Jesus teached us in His Word.

I'm not accusing you of doing this on purpose but by giving such a short answer you have made me feel that you are not able to prove what I have said is wrong your simply restating what you said before. Also I would like to point out that I made and effort to give you an answer to all your questions but you have really failed to answer mine. You have simply restated what was said earlier that the Bible is the sole rule of faith for christians. So I am going to ask you just a couple of question and I would like to get a straight foreword anser to them. So far all I've recieved is bible quotes and your interpretation of them. For instance the quote about the poeple worshipping Bal says nothing about Mary and the Saints. Although you have determined that It must mean Mary and the saints also. When I use a scripture quote to prove something it clearly states what I am discussing. i.e. the one about the church. It clearly says that the Church is the pillar and bulwork of the truth. However You have failed to show me one bible quote that clearly states that the bible is the sole rule of faith and that any other teaching is to be condsidered false.

You also said that the hebrew word kehila means "assembly of people." I don't see where that disagrees with what I am saying. In fact it would seem to make this passage even more effective since it is clearly saying that we should turn to the "assembly of people" not the Bible and by your interpretation of it sounds like your saying that anyone who believes in God is a member of the assembly of people of God. So are you saying that Jews and Christians and Mormons are all in the same group?

So here are my questions:

1. Do you believe that the Bible is the sole rule of faith for christians?
(Yes or No)

2. If so where does it say this SPECIFICALLY in the Bible?
(although you have used quotes trying to prove this you still have not produced one that clearly says that we are to believe in the bible and the bible alone.)

3. If you still belive that the Bible is the sole rule of faith then why don't you believe in the Eucharist?

diddl2007 added: 43 days ago
You wrote a very long answer so I'll write a short answer:

1st Timothy 3 : 15
If I am delayed, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, WHICH IS THE CHURCH of the living God, the PILLAR and BULLWARK of the truth.

The Church of God is not the catholic church.
Word "Church" is "Kehila" in Hebrew and it means : "assembly of people".
Kehila is all people follow the God of The Bible, The God of Israel.
Originally the Church is Jewish because His King "Jesus" is Jewish, the base of The Church is always Jewish with the Gentiles, not catholic.

You said, I quote :
"Where IN THE BIBLE does it say that we are to believe only what is in the Bible and nothing else?"

Read The Word of God :

Luke 8:19-21
Then His mother and brothers came to Him, and could not approach Him because of the crowd. And it was told Him by some, who said, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, desiring to see You.
But Jesus answered and said to them, My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.

Luke 11:28
And it happened, as He spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!
But Jesus said, More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!

I answer you simply, if you want to follow God it will be logical that you follow what's God says to you in His Word.

God bless you

In response to your comment the other day.

AMEN! I agree with every single Bible quote that you used. However I tend to disagree with your views and ideas on what the Church teaches.
I guess you saw my comment about the Jesus in New York City. You've covered a lot of topics here so please let me know if I don’t give an answer to something. If I do it's not because I don't have one or can't get one.
Okay I thought I made it pretty clear that Catholics Don't worship Mary, Saints, or any statues of either but just to establish the fact right off we as Catholics DO NOT WORSHIP MARY, SAINTS, or any image, statue etc. of either.

So that kind off makes the first quote irrelevant to this conversation. Considering that it speaks of people who "WORSHIPPED all the host of heaven, and served Baal"
Also I want to know if you think that making an image of Christ or a Holy Person for contemplation purposes and increasing holiness by remaining more focused during prayer is the same as creating an image of a calf and praying to the image or worshipping a false God?
How many Catholics have told you that they worship Mary and the Saints. I mean tell you that they worship Mary or a saint as a separate and powerful being who has power in and of themselves to answer prayers. We as Catholics believe and profess that Mary and the saints are Holy men and Women of God who served Him faithfully in their lives and therefore have obtained their eternal reward and now stand before God in heaven worshipping Him constantly. Would we then defy God by ignoring Him and worshipping His most faithful servants as gods or beings of self power and if that were the case how pleasing do you think our prayers would be to those saints. Would it please them that we disobeyed the God that they spent all they’re lives serving. This is all just plain common sense. Please don't take this as something rude but I'm really getting tired of being told what my church teaches, what it professes, and what it's members believe by protestants and other non- Catholics. I've lived my whole life as a Catholic and never been taught these things. If they are really taught by my church as truth and doctrine why haven't I heard them before? I don't think that a church whose goal is to spread the word of God and bring people closer to Him through His church (The Catholic Church) Would keep teachings like that secret from it's members? Does everybody except the Catholics know what they believe and practice?
I’m just asking that you have some solid proof before you make another statement about the church and it’s teachings. I would never get away with telling someone that Protestants worship trees or that they really don’t love God the Father just Jesus.

So anyways moving on could you please tell me where in the Bible it says
“The host of heaven is alive with God in heaven but God does not want that you worship them.
The host of heaven is Angels and Saints…” ? (Still pointing out the word WORSHIP)
Also where does it say that
“Mary cannot pray for you Jesus Christ because she's dead and she can't hear you. She haven't the Power of God. Only God hear your prayers. You can pray Jesus Christ directly.”

As for John 14:13 and 14
We do ask in God’s name. For the Mary and the saints are all apart of the Church of Christ and as Christ says He is the Head of the Church. We are the Body. His is the vine and we are the branches. What is a body without the head or a head without the body? You cannot separate the two they are one. So what is wrong about asking members of the body of Christ to present our prayers to Him. Rather than asking from our own imperfection we ask through those that have obtained perfection. Not saying that we need never go to Christ. We must go to Christ to obtain eternal life. Mary and the saints cannot give this two us. Think about this, would a beggar reap more benefit by going to the king directly for help or by asking someone of greater friendship and in higher esteem with the king to ask for him. For instance the queen.
Just to comment on your statement that says Mary is dead and cannot pray for us. Do you believe that every human being is endowed with a spiritual soul? This soul is what connects us with God our Father and is the intellect of our minds. Do you believe that animals have souls? This supernatural life within us is what distinguishes us from all other creatures. The soul of man will live for ever even though his body may die. If you believe that a human being has a soul then how can you say that Mary is dead?

It is true as Timothy says that Christ is the only mediator but as I stated above praying to Mary is not praying to a separate mediator. We are still praying to God THROUGH Mary.

When you discuss things and say that they are not doctrinal I assume that you mean that the Catholic Church created them and that they are not found in the Bible and therefore should be disregarded because the Bible tells us all that we need to know about our faith.
Well then answer me this
Where IN THE BIBLE does it say that we are to believe only what is in the Bible and nothing else?
Since you obviously believe that true teachings of the faith must be clearly stated in the bible I am sure that you can give me an answer to this.
I noticed that none of the quotes that you gave me really talked about this particular situation. In that case you must have used them as arguments according to YOUR OWN INTERPRETATION of them. Who told you what they mean? Do you take everything in the Bible word for word?
Then you must believe in self mutilation right?
Doesn’t Jesus say in the Bible that if a member of your body causes you to sin then cut it off?
If you do believe this then you must also believe that Christ is present in the Holy Eucharist.
Luke 22; 19-20
“And He took bread and when He had given thanks He broke it and gave it to them saying “This IS my body which is given for you. Do THIS in remembrance of me.”
Word for word Christ is saying this IS My body, this IS My blood, and that the apostles should do THIS in memory of Him.
This why we have the church to instruct us in the teachings of our faith and to act as an authority of God on earth that can has power given to it by God to determine the truth in teachings of faith and morals.
Do you know what the Bible says about the church in the Timothy?
1st Timothy 3 : 15
“ If I am delayed, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, WHICH IS THE CHURCH of the living God, the PILLAR and BULLWARK of the truth.
How come Timothy doesn’t tell them to consult the Bible on how to behave? If the Bible is really the only true source of religious belief then why would the Bible tell us to look to the church for guidance?
Is the Holy Word of God contradicting itself?
How can you say that something is not doctrinal because the church teaches it and it’s not in the Bible when the Bible itself is telling us to look to go to the church for guidance?
The truth of the matter is that we are all ignorant human beings and that Jesus established the church so that we might have a place to turn to for the interpretation of holy scripture and defining of the laws and ordinances of God. He therefore gives the leaders of the church his grace and wisdom to carry out this task and to the Pope he gives the gift of infallibility. Meaning that the Pope may never err in matters of faith and morals. This does not mean that the Pope cannot commit a sin. We are all sinful beings and must strive for perfection. It simply means that God has granted special power to the leader of the church that he may never preach doctrine that is contrary to the laws of God. Without this grace from God the church would have long ago ceased to exist as the church it is today. It is because certain people went against what the church taught that we have so many different Christian denominations today (they protested what the church taught). What happened was they didn’t like what the Church taught and they split off , They CHANGED the doctrine of the religion. After that the churches continued to split off from each other. Today we have millions of denominations and you know what?
They all claim to be the true church of Christ. How can that be?
Do some history research on the Catholic Church. I guarantee that you won’t be able to trace ANY other church back to the time of Christ.
Well I should really go I hope that what I have said will make you think a little more about what we have discussed. I wish I could say more but I am so busy. Just one last thought.
If the Eucharist is really just a cracker then how can anyone obtain eternal life.
For Christ says in John 6:53-55
“So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you unless you eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink his blood, you have no life in you; he who eats my flesh and drinks my blood I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is food indeed and my blood is drink indeed”(if get the chance keep reading that passage)
Christ is saying that unless we eat his body and drink his blood we cannot be saved. Unless Christ intended to have his apostles consecrate bread and wine in to His body and blood and for them to pass the power to do so onto others then all His sufferings must have been in vain.
But if this power is real and was intended to be passed on as the church teaches then how can you think of the church the way you do?
One last thing do you believe in the trinity?
Please tell me where I can find the word Trinity in the Bible?
I know you can’t so tell me if the Bible is the only source of religious teaching concerning the faith of Jesus Christ then are all Christians mistaken about the trinity?
I am just trying to point out that allow praying to Mary and the saint is not in the Bible neither is the word trinity. The Trinity is one belief held in common by all Christians.
God Bless and I hope that you will think differently about The Catholic Church and it’s teachings. Especially about our Mother Mary. Turn to her just once and ask her for help in a time of need and I promise you that she will not fail you. Read Luke 1:41-55. This is what the Bible says about Mary. May God Protect you from all harm! I will Pray for you.

Dear Thorongil5,

2 King 17:16
"And they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, and made them molten images, even two calves, and made a grove, and worshipped all the host of heaven, and served Baal."

The host of heaven is alive with God in heaven but God does not want that you worship them.
The host of heaven is Angels and Saints...

Mary cannot pray for you Jesus Christ because she's died and she can't hear you.
She haven't the Power of God.
Only God hear your prayers. You can pray Jesus Christ directly.

Jesus said in John 14:13 and 14
"And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it."

Deuteronomy 18 : 10 11
"There shall not be found among you anyone .... one who calls up the dead."

Thorongil5, why do you believe Jesus needs Mary to speak with you ?
Mary is not a messenger, she's not an angel.
Jesus can come Himself to speak with you...
Mary is with God but she's died like the other Saints, so when you pray Mary, you pray a dead person.

Jesus said in Revelation 1:18
"I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death."

Only Jesus has the keys of Hades of Death.
You say that Jesus send Mary but the Truth is that God The Father who send His Son Jesus to speak with us.

Only Jesus Is The Mediator :

1 Timothy 2:5
"For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus."

Jesus Is The Mediator = Mary is not a mediator between Jesus and you because The Mediator doesn't need a mediator, He Is The Mediator between God and us.

When you pray Mary, you call up a dead person.

The Bible is very clear : The Only Mediator Is Jesus Christ.
It's simple, it's clear and that's why : to pray an other person than Jesus Christ is not good.
To love God, it's keep His commandments !

John 14:15
If ye love me, keep my commandments

John 14:21
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

And Jesus command us to pray God The Father not Mary or other person.

To follow God, we have a Lamp who is The Bible. The pope is not the lamp, a church is not the lamp. The Word of God is The Lamp like Jesus Christ said us :

Luke 8:13-16
"They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light."

Psalm 119:105
"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path"

The church must follow the Lamp of God because the church is not the Lamp ! So the catholic church wants to guide people but it's a big error because the Christians = The Church must be directed by The Word of God.

God bless you Thorongil.
I love catholics but I disagree with their false doctrines.
