Question : Do you think that there are modern prophets?

Yes, in the Bible, it is written, "Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy." But what is a Prophet ?, we read further,"But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men." and again "He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church." (1 Corinthians 14 v. 3&4)
As a Christian, how do we obtain the spiritual gift of Prophesy ? Can we knock down people and call fire down from heaven ? like some T.V. pastors do ?, they sure make alot of money.( 2 Thessalonians 2 v. 11, Revelation 13 v.13).
Do not be deceived, can one purchase the spiritual gift of prophecy ? Can we pay a T.V. pastor, or pay to go to a semaniar to become one ? I wonder how , when it is God who decides who gets what gift "But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills." (1 Corinthians 12, v 11)
"But Peter said to him, âYour money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money!" (Acts 8 v20)
It is written again, "But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way." We should pray for spiritual gifts, but without Love, we have nothing, pray for Divine Love in our hearts, and the rest will follow. His Name is Jesus.
