Feeling guilty of wrong doings?

We can often punish ourselves more than what God is willing to chasten us or maybe God is not even thinking about chastening us. We sometimes in the midst of our failures can reward ourselves with a self measure of condemnation. we prolong what would be an otherwise liberating feeling of forgiveness and trade the truth of God for a conjured up lie of our mind or even lies of the enemy.
I remember in the past when I would stumble. I had the habit of putting myself through the motions of "just" punishment that I thought was sufficient for me to "learn" my lesson.
I could just picture Jesus looking down at me and wondering why I was doing such a thing to myself when He offers forgiveness so easily?
The knowledge that God is Holy is true, but you shouldn't think that He's too holy to approach you (or vice- versa) in your times of failures. The greatest example of Jesus reaching us at our worst is the picture of the cross. (Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.)
In my life I have had to come to acknowledge and remind myself that He is always willing to forgive as soon as we ask for forgiveness. Simply put we need to take God at His word no matter what we think or feel, yes we cannot ignore conviction, but conviction is to take you to the feet of Jesus for forgiveness. Believe the word of God and trust that He is faithful. (I Jn.1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.) It's as simple as that! Just confess to God and He will forgive.
You know in your heart if you mean it when you ask for forgiveness. Whether you are sincere or just wanting to get a load off your back. Forgiveness is to restore fellowship with God and not to satisfy ourselves.
(Psalm 103:12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.)
How far does God separate us from our sins? then why even reach back? Why even take thought of them? Men may remember, but God's records matter most and those things are blotted out and god no longer remembers them. If God forgives and forgets then we should also forgive ourselves and forget and move on.
(Psalms 145:14 The LORD upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down.)
If you feel guilty and have a habit of putting yourself through the wine press then take hold of Gods' word today and make a difference in your life. Know that God is willing to forgive you no matter what you have done and that He is willing to uphold you and raise you up where you should be in Him. Know that you cant please God by your abilities, but by allowing yourself to surrender to His will in your life. (Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.) Only through fellowship with God through the Holy Spirit are we able to live a life that is pleasing to God and not to ourselves. How can we measure ourselves in the midst of such a big God? It's time to let go and let God work in our lives the way He desires and not what we expect.
