To the one who died to save me
This should be one short story, but it goes on for quite a while, you see, through writing at 38, I am going back to when I was a child
Now to write at all this story, I had many troubled doubt. These years of thoughts inside my head, now should I let them out?
On then, with the story, and ill get straight to the point. So I pray to God that every word, to your hearts He will anoint.
There is many people in this story and on occasion ill mention me, and ill mention towns and places, but itâs the Hand of God I want you to see.
Now itâs good to have two parents, and the Curragh,,,, to run and play so wild, but Kildare in the 1960âs was kinda tough for a traveller child.
Yet my life was full of sunshine, and this world was my big play pen, but my world fell down around, by a car crash, when I was ten.
So with Mother, brother and Father gone, left now were me and 8 frightened others, my prayer was âGod, whatâs to become of me, my sisters and my brothers.â
So God was good, He brought us through, but for me my heart I could not console, so the Dublin streets seemed right to me and I decided to take a stroll.
Now many kids would join this street gang, stay a while then go home, but Iâd be left in the dark cold streets, alone, no parents and no home.
Often times when Iâd be lonely, and a lump in my throat would seem deep and wide, then I would long to be with my parents, so I attempted suicide.
With many more attempts of suicide, and they not few nor far between, so God laid on me a responsibility, and I got married at 17.
Many thought we were too young to wed, but they didnât understand, sure it was Godâs way of protecting me, a precious touch from the Masters Hand.
A few short years had passed us and God gave us a girl and a boy, then before we even knew it another 5 were our âpride and joyâ
But I started sipping from the bottle, again my past raised itâs ugly head, I was becoming hard to live with, my dear wife Mary often said,
Sheâd say âWillie these children love you, and Iâm so happy to be your wife, but Iâm frightened of your drinking, in case youâd take your precious life.
You see, Iâve been trying this thing so many times, and fail day after day, but now tomorrow Iâm succeeding, this time nobodyâs getting in my way.
Morning came, and I was ready, ill find a tree out on the land, but just then my oldest brother arrived from England, with the Bible in his hand.
He told me thing about Jesus, and if I died did I know where I would go, so I thought this a kinda strange, cause my plans he did not know.
He told me about his empty part, that everybody tries to hide, and if they would just let Jesus in, He would fix them from inside.
Now he was gone and then I thought, Iâve tried every sort of sin, and if Jesus Christ is Almighty God, then its okay to ask him in.
So I started off with simple words, but I meant them with all my heart, thatâs the day that Jesus saved me, and gave this sinner a brand new start.
Now if you think about this story, and the truth from you I will demand, wasnât this the grace of Jesus Christ, and the working of Godâs hand.
So Iâll finish off this story, with the same question that was asked of I, Do you know where your soul is going? If tomorrow you were to die!
Romans 10 v 8 â 11
âBut what does it say? The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart, âthat is, the word of faith we are proclaiming; that if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the scripture says âAnyone who trusts in Him will never be put to shame.â
Acts 10 v 42-43
He commanded us to preach to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God appointed as judge of the living and the dead.
All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.
Acts 4 v 12
Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by whom we must be saved.
