A Third Question for Protestants...

A Third Question for Protestants...

This was just a thought that i was pondering the other night, and this may not pertain to all protestants, but....If anyone is capable of understanding the Bible by themselves and can thus act as their own authority in Biblical interpretation, then why are there preachers and ministers? I know that we are all called to preach the gospels, but is there not still the imposition of authority of interpretation on to others? Also, if one then claims that a person need not follow the interpretation of the preacher or minister [say during a Sunday church service] then why would one even go to said church service if it were not to heed the interpretation of a "professional"?........

Just a quick comment on one aspect. I don't go to church to be given the interpretation of a professional. I go to church to celebrate, worship, fellowship with and encourage the body of Christ.

I think that comment was directed to me, but I'm not sure. All I'm trying to say is that I go to church to be an active member of the body of Christ. I really don't care to argue about the doctrinal stuff.

To be an active member of the Church is not enough. We need constant reminder what had been written in the Bible and yes we do need professional to interpret the bible for us especially to those that could not read and trust me where I came from though many say that they are Christian many do not know the bible at a deeper level.

Are we really all called to preach the gospel, or is that a specific calling??? Are we all missionaries??? Are we all evangelists??? I would complete your analogy of why do people go to a church &quot;service&quot; if they are not willing to subject themeselves to the duly appointed authorites, to why do so many Catholics go to mass, and have no intention of following the Mother Church's mandates, church laws and what the priests teach??? Why is it that it usually tis the Catholic who has the &quot;Dirtiest mouth&quot; and takes the names of Jesus, Mary and Joseph in vain???Or why is the &quot;nominal Catholic &quot; church so extensive....would it be that for some reason they have decided not to submit to the will and authority of their own church???<br />
Would that there were some way that the Catholics in Latina America would subject themselves to some church authority...witchraft is part and parcel, cults of death and santeria using Catholic images. narcos with their own saints and chapels to protect them, priest and all their chilfredn and women...millions of pesos spent on massive cathedrals to acomodate the Pope's visits and the Virgin of Guadalupe, while the poor peasants live on maybe??? $5-10 USD daily...hay que look to one's own church...and call them to order... There is enough for the Catholic church to be concerned about in her own patio...maybe that effort would make a difference in your down denomination. to so many who have left it...like me.
