poetry The Road

I once was on this road
It was dark, cold, and lonely
There was nothing around me
I longed for something more
I saw a door in the middle of this road
I heard a voice saying
Knock and I will open
I was very interested as to what was behind this door
So I knocked
There became a bright light from behind the door
I became afraid for a moment
Then I heard this voice again
As the door opened He said
Come my child with me
And see how your life was meant to be
I was on another road
Only this one was different
It was beautiful, warm, and vibrant
I was no longer lonely
I had a Friend
Someone who cared for me
And taught me so many new, exciting things
I also learned He gave his life for me
This road wasn't just any road
It is my life
And my Friend wasn't just any Friend
He is my savior
His name is Jesus
