First or last? Called or chosen?

Mathew 9:37-38 Then saith he unto his disciples,The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few. 38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

Mathew 20:16 So the last shall be first, and the first shall be last: for many be called, but few chosen.

Mathew 20 27-28 And whoso shall be chief among you, let him be your servant; 28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Mathew 21:28-31 But what ye think? A certain man had two sons; and he came to the first, and said, Son go work today in my vineyard. 29 He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented, and went. 30 And he came to the second, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, sir: and went not. 31 Whither of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, the first. Jesus saith unto them Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you.

Are you praying for laboures? Are you labouring? Jesus says many are called, but few chosen. I believe this is because many get saved, but don't labour the fields to bring in any of the harvest.
The word says the harvest is plenteous....There are so many hurting and needing to hear the good news.
Lord I pray I be the chosen one..the one that will go into the fields and bring in your harvest...Its not just our pastors job to preach the good news..we all are disciples... all who are saved by your grace...
The first shall be last (scribes and pharisees) the last shall be first (publicans and harlots)...wow..maybe because one said yes and didn't do the work and the other said no, but repented and went out and did the work..

How true Melanie... So many don't serve because they aren't the best and won't get the limelight. I know that sounds harsh, but it is often true. If they can't be the best singer and get the solos they don't join the choir. If they can't share a devotion or preach as well as one of the pastors they don't do it at all. If they don't know the perfect words to say on a hospital visitation to a family they don't know they don't go...in all thede situations we under=estimate the blessing to others (Saved or unsaved), just by being present and making the effort for the Kingdom...."Blessed are those who are meek for they will inherit the earth" Matt 5:5

Ray you are so right....I used to be one of those people...I had to learn to take the back seat and be the servant...and at the appointed time God will lift us up.....Look at Christ... What did he do? He came from heaven and became poor and a servant, and at the appointed time God arose him back to his right hand and He is now King of Kings and Lord of Lords.....But in humility he gained these things....not trying to be the best; just telling what His Father did for all of us...Focus on the kingdom 1st and all other things shall be added...Mathew 6:33

Melanie:

Van Morrison was a huge stepping stone in my life towards God. He probably is one of the most unrated christian song writers. I have often thought about one line in his song "Thanks for the Information" What do u think that Van is saying when he sings

They told me he who believes first will be later, and he who believes later will be first.

The one who will be first is the one who becomes last. You have to be come the servant. God doesn't look at your works he looks at your heart. He is not a respecter of persons. The scribes and the Pharisees in their righteousness will not inter in first by their righteousness. Look at the parable of the sons. They both were his son....on did the work. the other didn't. one had the heart to please the Father ( which is why he went ahead and did the work even though he said he wouldn't) the other one didn't...but remember Jesus used a parable with sons...so they both are the fathers, but one will be put above the other.
