It might sound strange, but I think that is what most of us struggle with every day, or at least regulary as Christians. We meet God in this "well-driven Church-machine thing" (or do we?) and everything seems so planned, so organized for us, we can just sit back in the nice comfortable chairs, doing nothing but listening. Even the so called "worship-session" is so planned and professionel as well as a speaker, who probably have been speaking at least 1000 times before, the multimedia-presentation which comes up with the newest video (maybe fro GodTube.......) and all that IS good, dont misunderstand me!
The danger is, that we so easy come to think that God is synonymously with "the church" - or a certain building......that is a nother reason for why it is crucial to hold on to a right definition as a church (NOT about bricks and stones, not about buildings and certain architecture......) BUT about people, christians coming together to share about God and experience God together.....not ONLY there, but well-knowing that God does not suddenly appear when we step into that room and dis-appear when we step out of that specific room!
This is the danger of putting GOD IN A BOX......to isolate Him, to think that we can only meet God, listen God, hear Him, share about Him in a church-gathering, a "worship-season", a sermon, a christian movie, a christian magazine....NO.....God is part of your life, as you are IN Him He is living out His life through you - IN you and with you!!
It is not like you can only open the bible to meet God, only pray and then you will experience God, sing a song and you will "feel God" (it is funny, many christians use the word regarding our senses, when they say "I feel God is saying...." but there is absolutely nothing biblical in that, nothing in the bible says that we can FEEL God......but we can HEAR Him, know Him, experience Him, face Him etc.) - please dont misunderstand my "only", there is nothing wrong with those things, we need them for sure!!
But the thing is that it is not exlusively those things.....God is everywhere.........like the other night, I went out with a friend and eat at a nice european restaurant here in the town......reallly yummy food by the way!!!
You see, I experienced God, I saw Him......why ? Because God was there, in the thing about 1) hanging out together 2) spending time in relationship 3) listening to me 4) sharing with me 5) making me rejoice over nice food.......... 6) smiling to me etc. - is that not what God is about ? It is certainly......the fellowship God is, the triune God who share the "love-dance", the great dance between the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit!
God give you a new rejoicful day, as you do "ordinary things", seeing Him in your lives and others, as He reveal Himself to you and show Gods love and care to you, WITH you and IN you.......out of the box, in the ordinary, God in human-flesh......... that is what God-life is all about, relationships, fellowships..........:-)
A participating God that is what He is, a triune God that joins the life of the Son, the Son that joins the life of the Father, the Son that joins the life of the Spirit, in harmony and participation. God is actually very concrete, very down-to-earth so to say, that is actually what describes it, because God did incarnate into a full human-being, the person Jesus Christ. And the incarnation continues today, as God incarnate in us, in our lives â as humans! The incarnated human Jesus Christ sits now at the right hand of God the Father and send down the participating Holy Spirit.
Paul wrote to us to ânot any more consider anyone in fleshly eyes, but in Spiritâ â as we are all dead and risen in Christ, God incarnated in us. It is there God lives out His life, in us and through us and in that way, nothing is anymore excluded â so much more INCLUDED (In God and God in us) â even in the very ânormalâ things we do.
It is time for us to re-view how we look at things and specially the view on what is âholy jobsâ and what is ânot holy jobsâ. Do we think our passion from this and that comes from ourselves? If so, we are self-honouring or you might spell it proud, it goes from the same root.
Is not the job of cleaning a glimpse of God â the passion to make something clean, is that not what God is all about? Is administration and keeping things in order â not what God is all about? Is repairing cars, doing mechanic, helping people â serving â not what God is all about?
Is drawing house-sketches, service, and making ideas coming true, not exactly what God is all about? Or doing farming, caring for the created plants, earth, crops, harvesting food-product, a glimpse of the very unselfishness in God, the life-sharer?
Or cooking, or painting, or plumbingâ¦â¦? It certainly isâ¦â¦.glimpses of the incarnated God, God in human-being, the great dance of God that comes out of the fellowship, the participation of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. This is indeed Spiritual and we need to get âthose glasses offâ and start seeing who we really are, who God really is and where He is acting in this dance of life!
We cannot sit and wait for God, He is declaring âI AM the light of the worldâ, He is not saying âI WILL be the light of the worldââ¦..one day, âone day when you put yourself togetherâ, âone day when you really understand itâ â NOâ¦..the Son IS the light of world! It is time for us to discover that, to see itâ¦â¦..to open our eyes for it, the live of God in this world.
As well it is not âI WAS the light of the worldâ â nothing has changed, God IS still the same, it is in the light we see things as they really are, it is not a âdream-thingâ, it is a fact, it is a view, it is a reality!! We need to get out, get into that lightâ¦â¦..where we see things clearly AS they are.
This was a few points from the series I continued with today on âThe Great Danceâ with Baxter Kruger. I hope it will give you some things, as it does to meâ¦.. blessings out there in the name of the triune God ï
The word ´needs´ and specially fullfilling needs â the good ones of course â is synonymiously with love. Ain´t that what the Son of God was doing when He walked here on earth ? He meet the needs and not only meet them, but cared for the person behind them, so here is the point; Jesus was not âjust a fixerâ, it was not a task, a âto do list that had to be fulfilledâ â do this, do that, He did everything He did driven by love. Jesus became the walking 1. Corinthians 13, the living word, the serving word.
Now comes the good question, how much of what I do, what you do, today will be driven by love? Or a I-have-to-do-feeling? Obligationâ¦â¦maybe sometimes it starts like that, but maybe we are allowed to ask God for a passion for the things we do, for a new revelation? Or maybe it is just the time to change foot, to choose another trackâ¦â¦â¦..
There is lots of needs around usâ¦..I think Bono (U2) have seen that as well as many of the global leaders of the world, the question is just how to fullfill them, with which methodsâ¦â¦â¦.which heart-attitude.
Last week I was joining a meeting where the guy, DTS-Leader from Taiwan, was sharing some things about his experiences with helping at the Tsunami in 2004, here in Thailand. The thing that stood out was that his son had a life-experience, when he for the first time in his life (his words) did something really un-selfish, he showed love â and that even to dead people!! Nobody to give the applause, no bodys attention but the love of God, the rewards in the Heavenly Kingdoms. The Father of Creations sees everything we do and not only that, He knows our motives, intentions and heart-attitudes.
We might ask the Holy Spirit to open our eyes, that we might see the possibilities, to options where we can show Divine love, a little more than just human love, the chances where we might be the messengers from God, to spread a little light here and there. Sometimes it might be simple things, leaving a washing machine for the sake of others who need to wash, giving a candy that was exactly a smile, an encouragement in doing hard work, offering a MP3 to a friend who had a special Christian song in his mind, giving a coke to somebody that show your love for them, giving a laugh to someone, offering attentionâ¦â¦â¦â¦.just a few examples from todayâ¦.normal things you might protestâ¦..yes, that is true, but they become glimpses of God, of the Sons work in us.
This is not spiritualising something that is not, this is pure facts, because God IS love, not something He decides to do, but His whole person â if you can say that a Spirit is a personâ¦.but God became a person in the Son, in Christ here on Earth (God is Spirit)â¦â¦ - this is what God is, LOVE in every meaning!
As God meets our needs in Christ â and He sure will â so can that love we have seen, got to know and walking in, reflect and shine out from our lives to others around us, I think that is what God wants as He is the God of sharing!
Today we finish the subject letcures regarding âBible-study methodsâ and we had been using Pauls letter to Philemon as a example the last couple of days, as for that, it was interesting enough and I would like to share, but not today. I might mention that and share a nother timeâ¦..these days, as you know, I try to refresh The Great Dance-series (www.dancinggod.com) with Baxter Kruger and I wish to share some stumbling points I came across today which spoke to me, hang on thereâ¦â¦.;
He spent time sharing on the incarnation of Jesus, the triune God coming to planet Earth, right here where we are, the heavenly atmosphere entered into our atmosphere, became one with it, united it in the God-son. The divine God took on a human body, born as a little baby who could not control his own pee, breast feeding milk and learning how to walk, the God of the universe talked baby-language. That is exactly the thing, He came 100 % human, God in the same bones, flesh and blood as us, heaven meets earths in one body, gets united â Jesus in living person, God in flesh BECOMES the union, the meeting point! Mostly when we think about Jesus, we are so hurry to make it equal with the cross and like skipping over the life of Jesusâ¦â¦donât misunderstand me, the cross is important, the empty grave IS importantâ¦â¦â¦..but it is much more than that. In the incarnation God meets human, God becomes human, the Son-ship, Jesus Christ as heavenly person and humanity, as Adamic creation â faces the reality of planet Earth. He can fall and break his bone, He eats, cries, gets angry, gets disappointed, sad, he goes to restroom, he sleeps, he washes himself, he drinks, ALL the normal human things, simply because God the Son becomes 100 % human!
It is the triune God who meets us, the fellowship of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in person who meets in a physical appearance of the human Jesus Christ, the Nazarene, the son of Josef and Mary and at the same time Son of God.
It is this divine fellowship, relation-God, that walks around and the Kingdom of Heaven IN person (John writes âHe became fleshââ¦.) makes WAR â heaven meets earth and heaven wins! For example, when people would touch a lebrazy they would get the sickness themselves, it was strongly contagious! Heaven meets earth, the Son of God meets the leppart and it makes WAR â earth rages, sickness rages, but the Son wins, Jesus wins, the triune God conquers the sickness!
Something stronger meets something weaker in the Son, Heaven meets Earth, God meets humanity in Jesus Christ and it all get unified, get reconciled through His life!
The Bible says that everything is created IN Him â the Son â BY Him and FOR Him, if that is so, then it means that His life is a part of me, since I am created BY Him and IN Him, IN Christ. What does that mean regarding the cross? It means that the whole world, since everyone and everything is created IN Him, dies WITH Him and resurrect IN Him.
We have to stop thinking that God âonlyâ did do something FOR us in Christ, no, He did something TO us, WITH us, He let us die and rose in Christ. In Hebrews it is put like this âif one man is dead, then the whole world is deadââ¦. In John. 3, we see that everyone is dead in Christ as well and only have life in Christ.
Now, be careful, because I am not saying that everyone is saved, I am not talking universalism nowâ¦I am putting out, that everyone has been reconciled with God already, everyone belongs to God already, but the choice is up to us to take the stand on what HAS happened with us already â it does not change the fact that it has actually happened already!
In the life of The Son, heaven meets earth and it is the same triune God in humanity, who rise again and ascend to Heavens, the victorious one, as a human and â with the scars in the hands â and sitting next to the Father, as a human. The Son of God united with humanity, the whole humanity united with God in the Son, belonging to God.
The fellowship of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit walking here on earth, including us in the Great Dance of life, opening up the circle through 33 years of ministry here, making tables, chairs as a carpenter for probably 15 years (B.A.M. â Business As Mission) and continuing serving people. He made more tables than giving sermons probably, yet, He change the whole worlds relationship to God, He made history â the Son changed it. The Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, uniting mankind to God. Amen!
It seems simple, almost too logic to say so, but the thing is that often our lives look like we separate joy and God, like making a separation between Spiritual and âordinary liveâ or put in a different way, how does Monday to Saturday relate to Sundays ?
The Bible certainly does not encourage us to âput God in a boxâ, limit God to a âSunday-Godâ, a 2 hours a week kind of god, a habit-god that fits perfectly into my calendar and whatever I do from Monday to Saturday is a whole other subject? No, that is not a good faith-based Christian life, I would almost call it a tradition-life, a religious system that does NOT change lives â only changes habits, at least 2 hours every Sunday! I grow up in that thinkingâ¦â¦â¦.
God wish, God wants a relationship with us, a committed friendship, a life-giving relationship in good as well as bad/difficult times, He wish to walk together with us.
We have put up the image of a Holy God that looks like unreachable and when we think of the word âholyâ we tend to think more about a certain behaviour than an actual state, a position. If we look at the word holy for a moment, it was in the Old Testament used in the meaning (Hebrew) of âto cutâ or âto separateâ, which gives quite a good picture of what God is like. The following is from a Bible dictionary: âFundamentally, holiness is a cutting off or separation from what is unclean and a consecration to what is pureâ. That is it â it is about identity, God IS separated, He is in a sense in âHis own circleâ. If we stay in the âcircle-pictureâ for a moment, what happened in the garden of Eden? Was that humanity choose to walk out of that circle, not God â we jumped out so to say.
Since the very nature of God is INCLUSIVE, not exlusive, He knew His heart was to share life â the same life God is sharing with the Son and the Holy Spirit, in that fellowship â so God went down to earth again, this time in the appearance of The Son in the God-head.
The Bible says God is Spirit as well as it explains the character of God to be He IS LOVE. If you are on your own, you cannot love, love works in a fellowship, in dependence of others â so how was God love? Because the triune God lived in a fellowship already, the Father loved the Son, the Son loved the Father and the Father loved the Holy Spirit and vice-versa, the fellowship was already there, the sharing-life was there already and had been there for eternity!
So to come down to planet Earth, our little âblue planetâ and adopt humans, was a act of love, an act of sharing-life and of being inclusive â God wanted to have the whole world inclusive in Him, in union with Him.
In same dictionary we find: âthe word âgodlikenessâ or âgodlinessâ captures the sense of the primary Greek word for holinessâ â yes, exactly, we are a part of God, we have been united, holy, set apart, separated â for the purpose of living FOR Him, IN Him and TO Him.
Lets get back to what we started withâ¦â¦here is it that what we do from Monday to Saturday DOES matter, it is included as well, you are living out the life of God! If you are IN God, your whole life is IN God as well and the Divine life of the triune God is running through your vanes.
The thing is that most of the time we run around not knowing who we are, we forget who we are and are on the step to have a major identity-crisis. We are having inside struggles, which for most parts is due to the fact that we are trying to please this world, convincing ourselves that âthis is our homeâ and our lives get that imageâ¦.if we would only knew!! This is a message not often shared, but actually if we were more focused on our identity, that we are united with God, we are adopted to Him â because He loves us (no one adopts by force, but by loveâ¦â¦), we do NOT belong to this world. We are Holy, separated, cut off this world, set aside to be His â from that identity comes holy lives, not the other way around. From our knowing of our true identity comes holy lifestyles, not doing holy stuff to please, that actually just shows that we do not know our identity. When Jesus said âIt is finishâ â He meant every single word, nothing added, nothing less, the adoption is complete, the uniting with God is complete, out of that comes Godly lives and Godly behaviour. Our Lord, our triune Father, we pray for a identity-revelationâ¦â¦â¦â¦for the joy of the sharing-life in the great dance of lifeâ¦..your dance! Amen.
