Where a YES is a YES....

Posted on Monday, July 14, 2008 at 09:07AM.

Hi there.....

This is for all of us, myself included, who struggled with saying things......things that we know is right to say, but seem to have 1000 of excuses for not to say, 1000 of explanations of why we do not say it...........

But still it bother us - unless we in one way or the other "kill" that silent voice inside (consience) that keeps telling us; "you should have said that" - "you should have told" but instead you choose the easy-way-out....."you still want to be popular", "want the attention", "you dont want to hurt any one" - even you know that it WAS most correct to just say it, to tell it how it is.

Here it is that I find the Word of God, the Bible, have a verse that almost shout out - LET YOUR YES BE A YES AND A NO BE A NO.......and as if that was not shoking enough, it speeds up the volume in a huge after-shock saying "WHAT IS BEYOND THAT IS FROM THE EVIL.....". Ask me if I understand this ? NO...... then ask me if I do practice this in my life ? NO......

How did Jesus mean this ? If for take it litteraly I guess most Christians dis-qualify even after a short "heart-check". Of course it does not mean that we are ONLY to use the words YES and NO....that could turn out to be some quite comic conversations we then could have :-)

I guess that it mean something like our words have to be trust-worthy, that people know they can count on our words AND that we do tell the truth..... (so help me God...the whole truth and nothing but the truth...).

The thing is that you NEVER find Jesus concerned with other peoples feeling thinking like "I better not say this, it might hurt them"........actually you find Him quite often "millitary-tendency" speaking very straight forwarding - and a soft-heartened person like me, would probably often have feeling down by the tough words, I imagine. I guess the difference is that all the words were said in love - love speaks the truth....in some way.....the Son of God showed that....the God-head showed us that. I guess Jesus did NOT need to worry about trying to find His identity in "getting peoples popularity-polls" or "their clapping in their hands" (thanks Donald Miller!!!) - BECAUSE He knew who He was.....the God-Son knew His identity, He knew His value.....He did not need to try to find it in something or somewhere else !!!

The God-Son was NOT a victim of Chernobyl...the devastating fall of man where we started to look for our values EVERY other place than God.....that is where I wish to come one day.....to get there.........

The journey continues................... :-)

Relationships....

Posted on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at 08:08AM.

Hi there....

You know, I think the whole key-word in Christian-life is RELATIONSHIPS and certainly not a formular (like some find it interesting to build a whole life on 4 points, Jesus life, dead, resurrection and blood.....or something like that...a magic formular, a trick, an idea, a teaching etc.). There is really not much life in that !

Actually it is not many times in the Bible you find these things as main-things, as something that was stated as "you need to repeat over and over again" or like that...(now I am perfectly aware of the danger of being misunderstood and put in words that I say that those things are not important, but hey, then try read what I am actually writing instead...).

God wants us to have a relationship with Him, to walk with Him...not saying magical prayers, formulars, religious teachings, theology or something...but LIFE.....

How do you have a relationship with a friend ? Living and walking together in easy and difficult times, crying together, laughing together, ya, simply hanging out together....not always with a special purpose, just loving to be together right.....

That is the kind of relationship God wants with us...hanging out with us, walking with us - like He did in the Garden of Eden - walking around, sharing.......sharing the life like God has in the wonderful fellowship of the triune God. God loving the God-Son, sharing, rejoicing, happy together, the God-Son loving the God-Creator, the God-Son loving the God-Spirit and vice-versa. Because relationship - fellowship can only really happen when there is more than one person....the same goes for love ! That is also why it makes sense, to only experience love outside ourselves....even when you find ourselves loved, you have to find it in God, outside yourself...in the fellowship with Him.

It is this relationship that God includes us in, ya, He has done already - we just need to DISCOVER it......to REJOICE in it and let it flow through our own relationship with others. (PART 1)......

Where we find our identity....

Posted on Saturday, July 5, 2008 at 01:19AM.

Hi there...:-)

Oh that is some what of a big subject I lay my focus on, but nevertheless it is the basics for life! As children, as babies, it is not a question we even consider, but we actually do not become many years before we start our playing around, all just based on finding - or at least trying - our identity, who we are.

Mostly we will try to find it in others, because we seemed to be created with a looking, a search for identity that starts by looking OUTSIDE - since it does not make much sense to looking for identity by looking in to ourselves. Even though many religions and sects seems to have that perspective....it might be the reason for why you dont find life in that!

So we start to compare ourselves with others, which actually is a cover-up or trying to find inden%%y, we got it all wrong, since we cannot find that "who love me" in a positive way, we end up looking for it in a negative way. The answer becomes violence, teasing, mocking and looking down at other people, because that gives us a sense of being someone, being something - being better and we sense a kind of value in that! That is also the answer of why we have wars in the world.......some think they are better than others and some thing they are worse than others (if they would be honest....).

When we dont find identity in God, we look for it in other humans....only, hopefully, one day we find out - or discover - that they are also just humans! Our super-hero, even our "super-pastor" was just a human after all, my "super-job", my "super-talent" was just some thing on the surface, it did not met my questions for identity....so I keep looking...in others, in something else.......

That is exactly what the fall of Eden is about........we turned our focus, our identity, FROM God to something or someone else....... we started comparing, in search of feeling valuable. Think about it for a moment, why is ALL the popular TV-games and shows about a winner and a loser ? Someone good and some one bad (someone sends home and some other continues in the game) - because it manipulates us to think that life is about that, some is higher value than others....the brave, the rich, the clever, the intelligent, the smart etc. right ? But the homeless, the unemployed, the uneducated, the pros#$@#ute, the alkoholist, the drug-addict etc., no value....no use.......this is our society, what is teach us ever since school. The smart in the class verses the one that the whole class makes fun of, the popular verses the nerd......value-sets.......finding our value in ragging others down, in comparing.........with other humans or finding it in God ? Where are you - where am I in this ?

Hopefully this can lead you a little on the way...just try think about it.........

Blessings !

CONFUSED.......

Posted on Thursday, June 26, 2008 at 05:28AM.

Hi there....

It has sure been a while since I have been writing in here, actually quite long time - we have so to say been on the road, been travelling a little around. The school call it "Outreach"....what ever that is......should our whole lives not be a never-ending one....not just 5 weeks ? Anyway...that is a side-track....which I am good of by the way hehe....

Small letter can not do here, it has to be BIG ones.....because I am BIG TIME CONFUSED.......millions of reasons for being confused...........desperate......worried......thinking too much I guess. To give you some hints.....and hopefully make you pray with me / us.....is the thing that the school (YWAM Chiang Rai) ends on the 27th July 2008 (some where around that date....)....and I have NO clue what to do after that - what is in our hearts ? what is our vision, our ideas, our hopes ? I might have some things....but is limited under things like money and visa-restrictions (and dont just give me that Christian kliche-thing with "everything is possible for he who believes".....I am sick and tired of kliches that for some reasons not seem to work for me and for my life....).

Our economy is SOOOOOO tight, that I do not even know how we can have money to go back from the school - Chiang Rai - to Nam Yuen.....for the bus-tickets.........and then how to have money to there.....with no jobs, no income...... ?????? I am screaming, shouting and just asking God, but either He is not hearing me, not wanting to answer me or I do not know how to hear Him.....one or 2 might be the problem.........

The other thing is that my visa again-again will expire for staying here in Thailand and I - once again - have no idea what to do....or even have no money to travel anywhere to get it fixed.....so what to do ? My kliche seems to be I dont know........where do I go with all my I dont know' s when God does not seem to answer me or open the doors............?

I do not even know for sure why I am writing this, but I guess I just had to let it out somewhere, and the Internet seems like a great anynimous place for doing so !

Thanks for reading....if any..... blessings..........:-)

Are you ready?...........

Posted on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 07:26AM.

Hi there.....

What does this question make you think of ? For most Christians it is easy - because of too much traditional thinking/religious mindset - to be a reminder of Jesus coming back soon again. I might easy see in my head, a old grey-haired man shouting at the pulpit on this question.........right....let us clean out the board for a moment.......

Does this question not fill us up with FEAR ? It sure does for me........Im so afraid of not be ready........I mean, it is not a big fear, but it is there..... and I actually do not think that I am that different from the main population hehe.....

I can wake up and be afraid that I will not be ready for the breakfast......because it is at a certain time.....is that not crazy ? Are you ready ?

Then I can think, that we are going on a tour with the school for about 5 weeks now.......leaving on saturday.....I can think will I be ready ?

For the bigger questions in life, it could be question - well not for me, because I am married already - but I know many people, maybe even specially Christians more than any one else is struggling with this question (since we have made it so complicated!)......are you ready ? (for marriage)

Later on in life......sooner of later.....the question will pop up in our minds.....are you ready ? (for children)........ and maybe..........if we avoid accidents, deadly sickness etc........when we turn around 70 / 80 (If Jesus has not come back before then...) we will have the question on our mind - am I ready ? (for dying, for saying bye to this world....)

I am sure you have heard this question as well, when some of your friends are waiting for you - they would probably shout sooner or later......(unless they are extremely patient friends).... are you ready ?

It seems like life is a lot of being ready for........ - things........ we get up, finishing ourselvs to be ready for...........doing things so we can be ready for.............. finishing eating, so we can be ready for................... preparing, so we can be ready for.............. maybe, we should ask God to HELP us to enjoy every thing we do, so we NOT so much hurry on to the next thing and it could happen, that while we were doing one thing, our mind was SO busy because we were ALREADY focusing on the next thing to be ready for !!

GOD HELP US......no matter what we do.........to do EVERYTHING for you......in EVERYTHING..............can we learn that ? YES - I think we can.....I think it is possible......we need to practice to be in the presence of God - NO MATTER what we do !! Brother Lawrence did that................

Enjoy out there........you are SUCH a pleasure for God simply because of WHO you are - NOT just because of what you do !! Sometimes we try to get Gods favor in what we do....it is NOT possible..... we have HIS favor already In Christ :-)
